Anyone notice a difference roll crimping between cheddite and fiocchi. Dose the cheddite roll crimp easier smoother ?

I can't tell any difference rolling but I like the Fiocchi hull better because the tps wad fits more snug

superx2

thanks for the reply.
reason im asking is because I only have experience
with the Fiocchi hull and having a hard time getting nice smooth
looking roll crimps tried adding dab of oil around the base
and it definitely looks little better but not a "factory look"
anyone care to share some secrets ?
P.S hull is clamped and using drill press on low rpm.

I'd have to look to be sure..I wanna say 900/1200..I am in the second groove from the bottom.

What kind of crimper are you using ?

Precision roll crimper
I use gape rollers on all my gauges..You can try to put the rpms up and see if that get what your after..If not get a gape roller..I usually oil the crimper about every 5 hulls

I've heard of those gaep rollers but have not been able to find any.
May I ask where you got yours from?

Thereloadersnetwork.com 3 pin 410 roll crimp is great. Mine looked like yours with the single pin crimp.

The Precision roll crimper works just fine, but you need to have your rpms at 1k or a touch higher for the 410.  A Qtip with some WD40 on it and LIGHTLY smearing the crimper every 3rd hull or so should even those out.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind te most.

going to try higher rpm. haven't had any time to reload but when I do will try the higher rpm.  also wanted to note, the directions that come with the roll crimper do say around 300rpm if I read that right? is why I was running it as slow as my drill press would go.

Hey guys
Just wanted to update. I reloaded few shells today and bumped up the rpm to around 1,000 definitely working a lot better.  Thanks for all the replies. I'm sure now that I'm on the right track they will start to look even better with more practice.
