Benelli M2 20ga shorten barrel
« on: March 23, 2021, 03:30:18 PM »
Anyone ever has their barrel shortened?  I’m see info where you can’t and can have it cut down. Gun has a 28 inch barrel and want to cut it down to 21.

I looked into this before and the consensus is it's not worth the trouble. It can be done but with the barrels being chrome lined its a 50/50 shot of whether the chrome will flake off afterwards

contact Mike Orlen.  He cut a shotgun barrel down for me and threaded it for choke tubes.  If it can be done, he is your guy.  His name pops up a lot on shotgun forums.  I do not have his contact info on hand but it should be easy to find.

I do not know I never asked him. He just made me a choke for it that worked out fine so I have no need to change.

If needed I’m sure he could tell me

THAT'S gonna be the biggest concern right there. It won't be back in Crio plus for sure. Win-choke or Rem-choke probably. Its gonna depend on how much "meat" you have where its cut.

They are the authorized dealer for Benelli parts. I just looked up and for a black 24" bbl. (short as 20 ga. M2 goes) its $530 with all 5 chokes. I GUARANTEE you I'd go this route before I had it cut & re-threaded.

Why does it need to be crio plus?

Long as you know what chokes you buy I see no issue

Resale? Well it’s already a cut barrel so

Have one on order but I like even shorter barrel. Will send my 28 out to be cut down and keep the 24 in case the cut down goes south

I did this with mine and sent it to Briley manufacturing in Texas. Can’t remember what I paid but they can’t cut your barrel to 21” but can cut it to 23.5. They also put crio plus threads back in for me
don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story
