Creeks, ponds, dams?

[Missed mallards]

Ok u located a creek. It flows to a pond and then trickles over a damn into another creek.

Question? Do you start looking above the pond in that section of creek, or do u find yourself looking on the opposite end where the dam is located?

Possibly the dumbest question just curious where / why would u start.
