I'm wanting to add another knife to my collection. Any of you own a Crotts or Dozier?  If so, opinions?

I own quite a few of Bob Dozier's knives. Topnotch work. Also check out Gene Ingram from Mississippi if you like fixed blade hunting knives.

Scott Davidson from Alto, GA does great knives too. His Bird and Trout models get lots of use from me and my crew. Highest quality .

100% Ingram fan. I have/had a dozen or more over the years. As well as Charlie May's and Winston's. Crazy how they all live within just a few miles of each other. I've visited with Charlie a couple of times. Great guy to deal with too.  Have an Ingram Semi Skinner on his books now. Should be ready in June I believe.

Dozier...I'm leaning towards his K2 or KS1. Spent several hours online today trying to find one for sale. No luck.

I've owned knives from all those guys. David Winston is my favorite, I am on his list now.

IMHO, Ingram has best fit and finish,  Winston has best designs, and Dozier will outperform them all when it comes to cutting. His knives are sharp!! I've yet to have a May I love, but maybe that'll change with the next one.

One of the few blades I won't sell after using a season or two...yes it's an addiction...is a Winston with weathered elk antler handles. Very functional little knife and very much a looker IMO. I'll take a pic or two and post.

Here's a snap of two of my Scott Davison bird/trout knives -what my friends call "light sabers"..

Perfect bird knives. Bottom knife stocked with Amboyna Burl and top with Desert Ironwood..

Good looking pair. I debone my deer while hanging from the skinning rack. Bet that design would do well for that and make quick work of pulling the back straps.

I have been known to 'misplace' folders.  That keeps me from dropping that kind of cash on a folder. Carried a Strider folder for a while. Was always double checking myself to make sure I still had it in my pocket!

This is the Winston I'm so fond of.

Very nice!

For food prep work (i.e. field dressing , deboning, filleting, etc) I much prefer fixed blade knives.. Here are a few of my favorites..

A couple Ingrams, one Dozier, a Marvin Poole, and several of Wayne Hendix's fine knives are represented..

Bad thing to have the BLADE Show in Atlanta every year.. It's as bad an addiction as custom turkey calls..

K-11 Columbia River Skinner. With upgraded Ironwood stocks.. $75 extra if I recall correctly.  I had two identical knives built. One is my business partner in WA daily carry knive. He loves it.. I just counted - I have an even dozen Doziers.. I hear that they are 3 years out on orders.

Come to Atlanta in June and buy one off the Dozier table with no wait time.

I'd spend WAY too much $$$ there.

3 years...yep. I was told that last week when I called. BUT I can have AG Russell order and have it in 4 months supposedly. Crazy but it may be the route I take.

I keep watching the "Featured Inventory" page with fingers crossed.
