What's your favorite Lonnie Mabry call?

I have only seen Cedar, Cypress and Spanish Cedar. We looked at all his wood today and didn't see any.

I've got a few boxes made by Lonnie. PH/Spanish cedar, PH/walnut, poplar/walnut and a long box I can't recall the combination of right off. Had actually bought the poplar/walnut for my dad but he decided he wanted the walnut/PH so I gave that one to him and then scoured the globe to find another and got lucky. Wish I'd kept the first one and gave him the second but oh well. The PH/Spanish cedar is the best of the bunch but the walnut/poplar isn't far behind. Have one of his pot calls. Is a glass in wood that I can't recall at the moment. Sounds fine but seems as if it needs constant conditioning to keep the tone. Maybe it's me. A great call but too much effort IMO for this particular call.

Had an absolutely awesome time at Mr. Mabry's. Every good thing you've read about his hospitality is 100% true. I was there from 11:30-3:00 and the visit was way too short. I bought a box (walnut/poplar), a mahogany slate, & a Ambrosia Maple scratcher. Ironically, the scratcher is probably my favorite. I played dozens of calls until I settled on these and he patiently listened and offered encouragement as I did so. He also shared great hunting stories but I was so wrapped up in the calls I could really get the full effect. Lord willing, I'm going back before Summer is over. There's a long box with perfect keep kees with my name on it I hope. I have some great pics but the motel wifi is not sufficient.
