Looking to buy a new vest and am interested in the Cabelas Tater/Tater 2. Apparently this vest has gone through changes and wondering what the differences are between the original and the newer version.

I can't tell u what the diff is but I'll say this. I bought a TT2 from a member in the classifieds here. While it won't replace my primary vest, it will b nice for the days I'm running lighter. It doesn't have the storage space of most turkey vests but has enough room for more than enough turkey calls to get the job done. The way it holds ur strikers really keeps them secure. My only complaint is in the pot call pockets. They're small and make it hard to fit some of the larger pots but still, it's a good vest.

This is the one I found on ebay, it looks nothing like a Tater 2 or 3. Its a one size fits most.

I can't help you w differences but I will say the thinness of the material made me a little uncomfortable. Last year I bought a tenzing. Seems more well put together but some of the pockets could be a little bigger.
Imo neither is perfect, lots of guys I respect love the Cabelas vests so I don't think you'd go wrong w em

Another vest I'm looking at is the Under Armor Turkey Trax. It uses the Molly system and in pics looks pretty nice.

Ol tom vests are second to none. I've got a tenzing that is also pretty nice, but it's heavy, the material is louder, and the magnets on the seat suck.

I bought the Tater 3 on sale/clearance (about $80-$90) and used it last spring. I bought the 3 because I just liked the pot call pocket better than the 2. Much easier to get the calls out of the 3 and holds everything I need and then some. Personally I wish I would have looked at the Bass Pro Buck Lick Creek vest. I had an older version that I really liked. I just didn't think of it until I after I had already bought the Tater 3.

I've had two Bucklick Creeks, one original and the second a BassPro version.
I now have a kickstand Tactical Tater.  Don't like the cushion much, it gets real hard after some time sitting on it.
Like the rest of it but my next vest will be another BassPro Bucklick Creek with some type cushion to carry with it.

Ol Tom essentials here. They only last about three seasons though. Very light weight and not as hot.

Well, I tried to stick to the ones I asked about but since others have posted about their favorite models, I'll do the same. For the last 11-12 years I've carried everything I've needed in a Primos gobbler vest. It's not the strap style they make now but more of a full vest. It's been nothing short of awesome and I like it a lot. Bought the TT2 for wet days, long hikes with more scouting than hunting or just in case something happens to my Primos. You might check into that if interested.

I have to add that I'm partial to self supporting vests and Gobbler Lounger chairs because I hunt pine timber country and don't like sap all over the back of my shirt or vest.  I like sitting where I want to, not where the trees say I have to.
