I was one of the first to make a pot with the titanium and you have asked a great question. When they were massed produced in plastic pots, they were screamers........because the sound was vibrating within the pot so fast and hard as it had no resistance like it would have in a wooden pot. putting titanium on a wood pot mellowed it down, gave it character, I wanted a pot that would sing and yet be touchy enough to bring it down when I needed it down. I used three woods, Box Elder was the first, this gave it a nastiness like a mature hen, here is a post about it....
