I was walking around the hunting department of our local sporting goods store (Sheels if you've heard of it) and out of the corner of my eye i saw a used Benelli 12 gauge super nova with the pistol grip for 400 dollars. I was so shocked i picked it up looked it over and ran to the cash register! what do you think of this gun I've only shot it about 25 times.. Has anybody had any problems with it?

I have one that throws awesome patterns with an Indian Creek BDS.  I've only shot lead through it so far and I don't really see the need for the Hevi stuff out to 40, even though I have a bunch of it.

The Supernova and BDS also throws a wicked pattern with #4 buck for predator hunting.  Best I got was 20 pellets in the 10 @ 40.

To be honest tho, I really HATE the trigger.  Mine is almost like a 2 stage trigger (feels like it anyways) with alot of creep.  After the season's over I'll be taking it to my gunsmith.

Fixed my trigger problem myself last night.....

I love the Supernova all over again.

I have used mine many times on the saltwater marshes of Long Island duck and goose hunting. Never had a problem with it. I think you will love it.

My hunting buddy picked up a used 12 ga. Super Nova, camo at Scheels in Iowa...looked brand new, regular stock...he called and asked me what it was worth...they had it marked $ 249.00! He snagged it.  It was definitely the Super Nova, not a regular Nova.

He loves his...has had several of the original Nova's before this one.   I think he's using a Kick's turkey choke and also has a Hevi Shot choke.

I'd like to know how you did it! You can pm me if you want

They are good hard working guns that with any reasonable care should last a lifetime. All Novas are notorious for having heavy, gritty triggers. You can improve the trigger with dry fire and over time it will smooth out quite a bit.

The Nova/Super Nova, like the Winchester 1300-SXP has that "magic" forend that starts its rearward movement the moment the gun is fired, so some forward pressure on the forend is necessary to keep the gun on target. It's very easy to get off a quick second shot for upland game, waterfowl or clays with those guns.

I have a very early model Nova that's served me well for many years.

Thanks,
Clark

I have owned both the Nova and Super Nova, great guns indeed. I used a Kick's GT in both of mine and they were great shooters.
