Use that Permethrin!

Spayed all my clothes, vest, etc before the season and reapply every couple of uses just to be safe.

TTT.  With more states opening this weekend and next, I wanted to bring this back to the top one more time.  Use the permethrin, we don't need people getting their corona with their lyme (Good one Southerngobbler).  Good Hunting to ALL!

Joe, I normally buy a quart of 10% at a time.  I will give my hunting buddies some.  I've had the same bottle of the concentrate for 4 or 5 years (using the last of it this spring).  I keep it in a cool place when I don't need it and it's still very effective.  I will mix a quart bottle of spray at a time and I wet everything thoroughly, hanging on a clothes line.  I've read, it is effective for up to 28 days.  I will normally reapply when I wash my clothes or half way through the season.

One more thing, don't allow the wet spray to come in contact with your cats if you have them.  Permethrin is a neuro toxin and it can kill them.  Once the spray dries, you should be ok as long as the cats don't lick your clothes.

Question for you all.   I'm curious about toxicity to humans after it dies.  Obviously you don't want to get it in your eyes or even skin while spraying, but once it dries, are you good to go with touching it?   

The examples that come to mind is laying your favorite snack food on your pant leg, touching clothes then using your mouth call ect.

I've always used DEET, but sprayed my clothes down with Permethrin yesterday and plan to use that this year.

When you mix the concentrate with water (20 to 1) the percentage is 1/2 of 1 percent (.5%).  Sawyers is mixed to the exact ratio.  I'm not a chemist or a doctor but if a company manufacturers this at the same ratio and assumes the liability that goes with it, I would say their research says it is ok.  I would think the threat would be low.

I found a tick on myself while working on a job site back in February. I had just gotten finished petting the homeowner's dog, which is always in the woods. Ticks are out and about even before season.

I spray all my hunting clothes before the season and reply after every 2 or 3 times i wear my clothes.

I've hunted 12 days this season and no ticks. I stopped on the way home from work Friday to check a trail camera while in my work clothes. I walked down the road and changed cards and walked back down the road and into my truck. I found two ticks crawling on me on the drive home.

Makes me a believer in Permethrin.
