What's your favorite caller and who made it ?

For the past few years it's been a Woodhaven Red Wasp mouth call.  The same one for about four years now.
As far as others, last year it turned out to be a Lonnie Sneed Hot Hen slate call.  That thing sounds SWEET!

It seems that the Halloran Crystal Mistress has been my go to call ever since it came out 5 or 6 years ago. I have several different custom strikers I like with it but my favorite is actually a Primos kee-kee striker. Been a deadly combo for me!

I also have a Spring Creek bloodwood over poplar long box I like a lot for windy days and locating.

I always carry my Dead End Game Calls, but I've grown very fond of two other custom calls. One is a tube call made by Mr. Chad Scruggs and the other is a trumpet made by Mr. Del Crow and Mr. Billy Mcallister..

My current favorite is a Kwila over butternut longbox from Jeff McKamey.  Great sound and is effortless to play.

Met Melvin over lunch at Unicoi. What a fine gentleman and a good callmaker. Bought one of his mini paddle calls in persimmon over Spanish cedar.

Pretty soon, I will need a wheelbarrow to carry around all my "must-have" calls...

I did pick up a couple of scratch box calls this season, and found them fun to play...  One from Lonnie Gilbert and one from SS Calls...  Both are great calls and distinctly different, and both will be in my vest next season...  Maybe cause they are so new to me, they are just fun to play with some great turkey sounds that are uniquely authentic.

Too many to choose from. I have been blessed in that I own some fine calls and most have been used to kill gobblers. I have a bunch of Steve Mann's boxes and never leave the truck without one. They are deadly.

I have a love affair with the slate pots Dean Mundhenke builds too..

Sentimental calls ? This one was one of the last Buice Trumpets my mentor bought and hunted with..I am lucky to own it.I gave a Cocabola Buice that was bought the same day to a young turkey killer I think highly of.. It has brought birds to the gun and it is to me a priceless possession and a call that will always be with me. Every time I hunt with it, Cliff is there with me..

Andy that's a great post and an honorable gesture.  I remember him from GON over the years.  You are lucky to have been so blessed in knowing him that way.  And willing to return the favor to others.  We never know the last time we'll hear a spring gobbler.  I think it's awesome you hunt with the calls you do instead of keep them on a shelf.  That's what they were intended for by their maker.  Just as we should all perform how our maker intended.

I buy them off e-bay, including lots that are just parts. I then assemble them into working calls. If they sound good I hunt them. I find them at yard sales or estate sales. I have pot calls, box calls, wingbone, trumpet and even push button. They all work very well with a bit of tuning. Is it really the call or the person using it?

My favorite box is a Quaker Boy field grade boat paddle that I've had for around 20 years.  It is a long way from the most expensive box call I ever bought, but it just seems to have "that" lively sound the gobblers really respond to. I hope it hangs in there a while longer.

I have many quality custom pot calls, though the one with the most kills is also a production call; H.S. Strut SL360.  I've notched it for each gobbler that I've called in & killed with it. It has 23 notches.  I've had it a for a while and it is hard not to go to it.  I have also killed birds using a Scott Hembrook Willow Ridge bronze glass over canary, Halloran Twisted Sister, S&S Game Over aluminum.

I think that if you with practice with it and you are confident in with the call you are using you will be successful with it. It is not how much you spend on a call or who made it, if you kill turkeys with it, it is a keeper and valuable to you, you can't put a price tag on that, Norm
