Fighting purs

Does anybody make a fighting purrs call?? I know years ago somebody made a double push pin for fighting purrs. I see Knight & Hale are making a plastic one, but the reviews on it are pretty bad. Anybody else make one?

In 20 plus years of calling turkeys it has never once worked for me! But I still try it once in a while!

It has never worked for me either...  It has got some birds fired up, but not killed...  From the manner in which it fires up birds but does not bring them in, I feel like I am missing an important step in the process...

Use one push pin and a mouth call simultaneously. Just make a racket and it works giving the conditions are right like this hobby of ours. Good luck.

I kill at least , at a minimum one GOOD gobbler a year using a fighting purr , it's calling with " attitude "

....the key is to really lay into it hard , you have to call constantly for at least 10 minutes , I'll use  two of my tuned push pin calls , and a cutter diaphragm , I'll cut simultaneously as I'm doing the purr , and rotate the calls side to side this makes it sound like turkeys running around . Also when the gobblers gobble back at it , do not let up , keep up at it until they run right in

It's very effective on multiple gobblers , if hear 2 or more gobblers sound out on a roost , I hit them with a fighting purr immediately

It's good on a dead situation where gobblers are simply not responding , I've killed gobblers at 630 am and I've killed them at 1 pm , it works all day long ....

Old Gobbler...Thanks for your input on the fighting spurs. I'd hoped to use my Knight and Hale set on my third and final tom this spring in Southern Illinois should I still be hunting up in the morning, but used only my gobble tube instead while they were gobbling from the roost and at 6:00 a.m. my season was over. Is this a technique that will work in the fall season as well as the spring?

I've never tried it either. Going to hammer them tom. With it hopefully. Cane creek calls has a video of him placing a pot call between his knees and running a striker in each hand. I can't get my left hand going. Lol.

I know what you mean! Kinda like brushing your teeth with the opposite hand...you can do it, but it might not be pretty! Having watched Doug do that on his video, I had to try it!! I think, with a little practice - it could be the deal. I hit record on my first attempt just to see what it sounded like - but having the phone 6 inches away didn't help

Over the years I've used it on rare occasions and I've killed a few toms using it.  One thing I've noticed is if they respond I usually kill them because it's like they throw caution to the wind.

I have used it with success for years. It's like everything else when it comes to turkeys, sometimes it works and most of the time it doesn't. I reserve it for the times when a bird hangs up or totally ignores my calls.

Take a look at YouTube. There are several videos on there on how to imitate fighting purrs with a mouth call, often with the aid of a slate call to provide the second bird's involvement.

It dont work every time,but when it does he comes in looking to fight !
