Very cool. Thanks for the info. I did account for buying accessories thats one reason camera cost is low, because I'll have more to buy on top of that.

What tripod and mic do you use?  I need a better tripod and I don't have a mic yet.

I use a Rode Videomic Pro and would look at their wireless mics too, other than that we have been using a Sennheiser wireless mic, Just make sure what you are buying "works" with your camera set-up. I spent some time researching this and talked with the guys at Campbell Cameras, wealth of information there. My tripod and video head are from Manfrotto, and has Varizoom VZ-Stealth remote, I also just picked up a Manfrotto Leveling Head that came out too.

Thanks for the info.  I'm just using a Canon HF500 right now, so it just has a cold shoe to mount a mic (will have to be battery powered whichever I go with).  I've been eyeballing either a Manfroto or Magnus tripod with a fluid head.  Not really looking to spend a bundle on peripheral accessories right now, but just an upgrade from what I already have.  I only do video for myself to share with friends and put on youtube and such...nothing with anything that will be on TV.

Don't know if your camera has manual settings but to make the most of your filming that's the way to go, also you should be able to use the cold shoe with the Rode, (helps if you can set your audio levels) and don't forget the "dead cat" helps a ton with wind noise.
