I am still using an older vest that Cabela's called the "Ultimate Turkey Vest".  Never seen another one made like it.  All pockets are internal and the game bag actually extends all the way around to the front.  Almost like it is two vests layered.  I just can't give it up, it is like an old friend.  It has been modified with new padded straps and 3D leaf strips sewed onto it and it looks pretty rough but is still 100% functional and totally quiet.  I can't stand the stiff cordura vests today with external pouches sewed all over them.  They look like some kind of military load bearing harness.

Of course it is about money, it is business.

But is also about competitors taking the work offshore and forcing the issue.

As well as retailer demanding pricepoints and margins to match or exceed that of competing vendors.

And the fact that NAFTA sent a shockwave causing most remaining cutting and sewing operations in the US to shutdown, and all the employees with the skills to do that work were getting up in age.  Young people were not looking for that work.  So where, exactly, is one to get cutting and sewing done in the US?  And at a price that allows a company to compete with competitors offshore and satisfy the demands of retailers?

Those vest are from back when MO made their own stuff. Now the patterns are licensed to multiple companies that sadly manufacture all over.
