The best thing to do in that situation would be to let me take that off your hands until you cool down. I think a fair amount of time would be, I don't know, bout 70 days from now.  Seriously, I've been shooting turkeys with my Xtrema for along time and really want a "turkey" gun. And I REALLY like that exact gun.
If you don't mind me asking, "What brought you to purchasing that gun?"

Some do, some don't. What's it gonna be?
I used to own a Mossberg 500 thumb hole stock and loved it and just from experience I know I like shooting semi auto better than pump. That pistol grip stock is gonna be awesome for holding a long time waiting on a bird.

I happen to be sitting here tonight working on the exact same new gun.  I will be polishing the bore in the morning to clean it out.  Like yours it is caked on the inside of the bore.  The action is full of heavy oil also, I recommend you dissasemble it and clean the oil out of it.  This is indeed typical of Mossbergs.  I also own two 835's and they were the same condition new.  Good news is they clean up fine.

Now I did run into a problem you may need to look into.  I mounted a Mossberg Picatinny Rail on mine and the front screws were too long.  Yes I used the proper two shorter screws and they were still too long.  They locked the barrel into the action like set screws.  I ground them off, cleaned the threads and reblued the screws.  Everything is fine now but that is something I shouldn't have had to do.  If you are using a Mossberg Picatinny rail check this out.  If yours are too long you can do what I did, or have a gunsmith correct it.  This to me is worth a complaint to Mossberg which I will be calling in first thing Monday morning.
Yes I have the same problem and guys done of you are saying just clean it no big deal but I scrubbed that barrel fire an hour and it will NOT come clean for about the first 1/4 to 1/3 of the barrel length. Choke did have rusty gritty crap too but I'm using a different choke. I've got it cleaned best I can I might attack it again this evening but I just want aware this could happen.

Mine was like yours, black oxide from chamber to the gas ports.  This morning I used the method outlined in the turkey gun forum.  I chucked a cleaning rod in a drill, used a 20 gauge brush and scotch brite treated with Kroil and JB bore cleaner.  I wrapped the barrel in a towel and chucked it in a gun vice.  Worked on it for about 30 minutes and the bore now shines like a mirror from chamber to choke.  I have had good results using this method before on two 835's.  Your not going to brush it out by hand.

Skeeter is exactly right. I've got two 835's that required a lot of elbow grease to clean up before I even started the polishing process. Both came new from the factory extremely filthy. It's been years ago and i've forgotten all about it. Polish that joker up and smash some beaks !  :icon_thumright:

I would be!! I've never bought any gun, new or used, that wasn't clean. I'd be furious if I bought a brand new gun that was filthy. Then again, I've never owned a Mossburg. Personally, I'd call Mossburg and demand a new barrel at the minimum.

I used the how to polish threads method of cleaning it and I could've done it a few more times than what I did but she sparkles now. I did spend no less than 4 hours cleaning just the barrel total. I had to use some different stuff than what the tutorial said cause I couldn't find it.

Bud's is one of the most popular places one this planet to buy a firearm. They always do good, honest business. I would look more toward the gun, because every Mossberg I have seen that was new, had a horribly dirty barrel.
He shouldn't ought done'nat........ He dead.
