I added an Old School Rem 11-87 Greenleaf to my collection and wanted to add a Limbsaver recoil pad to it like I did to my Trebark and Bottomland 11-87's(Limbsaver #10105). But the butt of the stock on the Greenleaf is larger than the ones on them. I tried a Remington R3 pad but it's slightly narrower than the factory pad. Has anyone replaced the recoil pad on a Greenleaf Remmy??
Keith,
You'll probably need a grind to fit Limbsaver pad. I have a number of "take off" pads from Remington shotguns and it all depends upon when they were made, whether they were plastic or wood, as to what the size was. They ground them to fit what they had.
Here is list, in inches, of what Limbsaver pads can be ground to fit.
Small will grind to 3 7/8 x 1 11/32
Medium to 4 1/4 x 1 5/16
Large to 4 7/16
Medium/Plus to 3 28/32 x 1 11/32
Medium/Half to 4 1/4 x 1 5/16
One of those should fit your gun. It's an easy job for a gunsmith or a handyman who has or has access to a grinder. You just need to make sure you have the correct pad.
Please let me know if I can be of help.
Thanks,
Clark
