I've only seen one, my son's 2015 Montana bird.  We didn't even notice until after he stopped flopping.

Same area this came from occasionally produces toms that have a few solid black primaries on their wings.

That bird is AWESOME!!

I'd say for sure that's a melanistic bird! That's gorgeous! Probably once in a lifetime, but I'd say if you ever see another it'll be around that same spot.

My uncle shot an all black, double bearded one about 20 years ago. He never saved any part of it other than the meat. Had i known he was gonna just toss it i would have took it and got it mounted. He never even took a picture of it.
