How many of you that run a holo sight, Burris or Vortex, also run the protector? Is it necessary? Does it change the height the sight sits on the gun?

Thanks!

I bet after you have one fall from standing up and it shatters you will wish you had a protector!!! Ask how I know?

I didn't get one because I thought it might grab vines and limbs

I use the one Gobbler74 makes on a Venom. I love the thing. It does make the sight sit up a little higher and it can affect your elevation adjustment. Swapped chokes this year and I have the sight completely bottomed out to get it to POA at 40 yards but I think the protector is worth it. Venoms and Fastfires can take a beating but I know how clumsy I can be and having the added protection eases my mind.

I don't use a protector...didn't know there was one. Lol  I suppose I could fall and break the sight and wish I had one.  But I'm not going to worry about it.

Wouldn't consider taking this protector off. Too many slips, trips, and falls in the woods and I don't want a damaged sight to ruin a hunt. It does sit a bit higher, but its nothing to be concerned about.

A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409
