Thanks MDTOM. I have some 220 grit I use on the copper and stainless. Will give it a go on aluminum.

Sawyer, do you have 91% alcohol pads? I tried some 70% the other day on a call and lost all grip. Put some 91 on a paper towel and wiped it again, had some grip after that. Thanks for the chalk tip, hadn't thought of that. I have a cube of rain chalk so I will give it a try.

I've never had to use sandpaper on my aluminums. Maroon scotch brite is all I need.

Yes, the maroon scotchbrite usually does it for me too. I've found certain strikers due seem to load the surface causing it to go slick. if the scotchbrite doesn't allow you to get the sound that you want don't be afraid to condition lightly with the sandpaper. I've found anodized aluminum IMO does need more attention then other surfaces.
