Proposed Legislation in Kansas will double license and tag fees

Kansas Senate Bill 50 (SB50) is currently in committee. The bill would increase the maximum amount that KDWPT can charge for hunting and fishing licenses, tags and permits. The increases would open the door for Kansas to double the price of licenses, permits and tags for hunters and anglers. Right now your resident turkey permit in Kansas is $27.50. If this is signed into law it will in all likelihood be raised to $50+. There are proposed increases to both resident and non-resident fees though the non-resident increases are only 50% as opposed to the 100% increase in resident fees. So if you live in Kansas or travel here to bag a longbird, this will effect you.

I have a good friend in the state legislature and just talked about this with him today. This won't go anywhere.

We will see.  Big increases in non-resident fees are usually caused by resident whining.  A shared increase would be very unusual .

When they added the T to KDWP they started to really promote the living heck out of your natural resources to everyone and anyone that would listen.  Every outdoor TV show and magazine has folks there non-stop extolling the easy limits and plentiful game.

I don't really believe this has benefitted the residents or the hinting, but with Brownbag's destruction your tax system the money has had to come from somewhere so they started selling the heck out of it...
