One of the quietest opening days I can remember. Heard two in a spot I normally hear 8 or 9 in, and they only gobbled about 3 times each. Called in hens three different times. Didnt hear but two shots and they were late going on about lunch....both sounded close to food plots that the state maintains on this property. My streak is done for opening day killing....6 years straight on public land.

Got some cool footage of the hens. One about walked over me. She was about 6 feet. Soon as I can find my cable to connect to the video camera, ill get it done.

Del, I know what your talkin about!! I'm goin in the mornin to a place we call the "smoke house". Eddie said he drove by and saw at least 25 turkeys in that field....2 were big boys. My turkeys gobbled good this week-end, called 2 diff gobblers to 70 steps couldn't close the deal on Sat am....then had to go to work. Sun am, called  in a 2 or 3 yr old and the guy I was guidin shot and missed at 27 steps. Maybe in the mornin!!! The weather has been bad since Sat pm....goin to rain the rest of the wk.
