I killed #2 this morning!! Yesterday morning I went to a new piece of property that I hunt, and i heard 3 birds on it. Got really close to killing one too! So i decided that I was gonna go back this AM before class since it was my birthday. Got up and talked the roommate into going! Left about 5 walked down and decided to stop between two fields and listen for them to gobble on the roost. It finally got day light about 30 mins later... When it did we had one gobble 80yds behind us straight down the tree line. Funny thing was he was roosted almost right above a bridge that we had crossed that morning! When we crossed the bridge we were prolly less than 50yds from him. I snuck out into the field and placed the DSD about 13 yds from us and slipped back into the tree line. After getting set up I tree yelped and he hammered. He was on FIRE all morning. Finally I look at my phone and its 6:38 told my roommate he better hurry up I got a quiz at 8 and we need to leave by 7:15... all while the turkey is still tearing it up. FINALLY right at 7:00 he pitched to the far side of the field from us, about 200yds. I told my roommate, he found him in the camera and started rolling! Bird looking up saw the decoy and strutted the ENITRE way across the field without me calling at all. Tried to pull him out of strut twice and he would NOT come out. I shot him at 7:06 at 28 steps!!! My first turkey on really good film, and on my 21st birthday!! and I also even made it to school in time for my quiz!! Gosh dang God is too too good to us!! Ill post stats soon!!
