Left out this morning to listen for some birds. Got on the edge of the field, where I killed to gobblers last year, and sat well before daylight. When it finally started breaking daylight, I heard one gobble in the distance. Hit my owl call and had two more gobble within 100 yards. They were gobbling good this morning. I waited till 8 am before I moved, bc they hadnt made it to the field yet. I got up and walked some of the property just looking for sign and sheds, and came back to the field as it started raining at 915am. Guess who was waiting on me? I could see his fan from where I was but he was just over a little rise, so I ducked back down in the holler and eased around to the barn where I could watch him without being seen. Watched him strut and feed for 1 1/2 hours. Pretty good morning. O btw the dogwoods are blooming here so its time boys. Opening day is creeping here. Bring on March 31st.
