What are everyone's recommendations on what box call chalk works best?

Dtrkyman

I bought some rain chalk, works well, some claim carpenters chalk is good as well.

Rain chalk here. Love that stuff.

I like the half round disk of carpenter chalk.

Same here. I assume since they make calls they use the right chalk.

Have you compared this with the Primos redish chalk?

Just asking cause I have some of the carpenter chalk that came with a box call but haven't used it yet.

If you do a search on the forum you will find some great discussions / information about box call chalk.. good luck ...

Any wax free chalk is good. Carpenters chalk is fine. I currently have some Primos red and it seems to be good as well.

I've used rain chalk and carpenter chalk and carry both in my vest.

I like both

I've used it since I was old enough to have a box call.  Probably 10 y/o.  So nearly 40 years of using it and never having any issues.

Many years ago, I had Primos chalk on my long box...Ralph Snodgrass (for new guys who don't know, he built that box) wanted to see it. Snozz yelped couple times and promptly scotch brite that chalk right off and put the chalk in his vest on my call....ran it again, definitely a difference. I haven't used Primos since.

Just my experience...YMMV.
A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409

Over time...they come to learn how little air a good yelper actually requires. ChesterCopperpot

Sit down wrong, and you're beat. Jim Spencer                          Don't go this year where Youtubers went last year.

Well what chalk did Snozz use PA?

I don't recall what he had, it was white.

I use rain chalk exclusively. It seems to last good long while.
