Hawai’i success

Wife and I spent 2.5 weeks on 4 islands (Oahu, Kauai, Hawaii and Maui) in Hawaii. And were able to hit the big island on the opener. Incredible scenery and loads of birds gobbling everywhere. Had plenty of jake issues right away and then went to running and gunning. I was able to call one up mid morning and my wife in the later afternoon. Probably could've been done sooner but mid day we decided to head up in elevation and chase a Hawaiian mouflon sheep and was able to get a pretty good one with a 310 yd shot. I've hunted a lot of states and I've been in all 50 states and this place is absolutely breathtaking! Highly highly recommend doing it if you're able. We used G's adventures for our guide. He had guns to use so we didn't have to travel with them since we were staying on 4 different islands and the whole trip took 7 flights between getting there and island hopping so saved huge hassles with TSA and the state of Hawaii, it's definitely more involved with their government bringing a gun there with registration with the local PD etc.
Earliest we've started our spring on March 1st and I could certainly get use to that!

I couldn't believe the amount of goat and sheep we saw on the Big Island while out there hunting this year. I saw a group of sheep with two world class Mouflon in it on public land that had me reconsidering what I was out there to do.
If I ever went back to Hawaii to hunt, it would be for a Mouflon and a big Billy. I'd chase upland until I got tired and then turkeys would just be a side quest.
It truly is an outdoorsman paradise out there at the present. Anyone desiring to go out there, I highly recommend doing so in the very near future.

Hunt of a lifetime! Congratulations
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, tired, beat, thoroughly used up and totally worn out from chasing turkeys and loudly proclaiming; "WOW -- What a Ride!"
