Youth Season started this weekend in North Florida. My grandson (11 years old) had a state archery tournament yesterday, today was our day to give it a try. Bryson was able to take a nice gobbler. 19.3 lbs, 9.5" beard and 1.25" spurs.
We think we heard him fly down around 8:00. Got him to gobble to a slate call. He was about 100 yards away on the road we walked in on. I yelped a couple of times with a wing bone and about 10 minutes later we heard spitting and drumming, and he walked around a corner about 10 yards away strutting and drumming. Bryson had to let him walk by before he could shift and get his gun up. When he engaged with our jake decoy Bryson made short work of him.
This is his second long beard and he is hooked. I'm so proud and thankful to have a hunting partner.
