Escort PS youth 20 gauge

Last year, I bought my grandsons an Escort PS youth .410 semi auto.  My buddy at work has a 12 gauge and has never had an issue with it.  I got the gun home, set up a target and from the beginning it would not cycle shells.  It would double feed and jam constantly.  I tried low brass and high brass made no difference.  I contacted Hatsan and my experience with them was terrible.  The shop told me to bring it back and they would deal with Hatsan.  Anyhoo, this has been going on for almost a year and still no gun, no repair.  The other day the shop owner told me he would trade me a new PS 20-gauge youth model for the .410.  I picked up the 20-gauge Saturday, only this time I disassembled the gun wiped all the internals down with alcohol and then wiped all the internals with Rem oil and CLP, just a very light coating.  I checked for any sharp edges and burs but really everything inside seemed ok.  The Internal build of the 20 gauge is different than the .410.  It reminds me of a Remington 1100.  I picked up a box of Winchester 2 3/4" 7 1/2 shot 3/4 oz loads.  I shot all 25 rounds thru the gun and only had 1 failure to feed.  What do you all think?  Do any of you have any experience with the youth 20 or any Hatsan for that matter?  I'm hoping once I start putting 3 inchers thru it everything will be ok. I ordered a Trulock .585 for it, so hopefully get to pattern it pretty soon.

One failure shooting a 3/4 oz shell is great for a new auto loader!

Buy a couple boxes of 7/8 loads and run em through.

It won't have an issue with heavy turkey loads!

Most imports come with cosmoline packing grease to avoid corrosion, that crap turns to glue with heat, all metal parts need degreased prior to shooting.

I was a little worried about shooting the 3/4 oz loads.  I did use alcohol to try to degrease everything.  I appreciate the response.  Hopefully with 3" shells it's a non issue.  Thank you

Hey Greg, that was my original purchase.  I really wanted that gun to work out.  Nice and light, short barrel, perfect little turkey gun.  If you don't mind me asking, what constriction Jeb's and were those 9.5 Ninja's?  What kind of 10" results did you get?  Thank you for the reply

Same for me.  There was a bunch of packing grease in it that I had to clean out.  I had never owned an autoloader until this gun and I did find there is such a thing as too much oil.

It is Jeb's x full 385 ... Yes shooting the Ninja 9.5

It's been a couple years ago, that I got it all dialed in and ready to hunt...

If I remember it was a good killing pattern out to 36 / 37 yards ...

Regardless I had no plans of shooting it past 35 yards anyway...

I do remember I didn't like the Burris FF3 with the way it mounted on the barrel rail and I added a small riser to the red dot to get the front barrel riser blade sight out of my view ... Works great now ...

Haven't put many light loads through it but upland hunting loads and turkey loads have been terrific through this gun. I have heard a few complaints about the .410s though, I'm thinking of trying out the Mossberg SA .410 for my daughter but still need to do a little more research on how folks like it.
