Just saw these this morning.  I thought I would post up as maybe a more economical 12ga load for some folks.  I've never shot Salt Creek ammo, myself.  Just thought it was interesting.  $26.99/5.  Test was with a patternmaster .665.

seems like the shot string at 40 yards would be a mile long.  Those 9's have to be moving a good bit faster at 40 than the 5's.  Not sure it would make any difference though, just a thought

So I have been hooked on rolling my own using recipes from folks on this site and others. I started doing duplex loads using 8s and 9s tss only, no lead. I was always told, to "load the heavier shot on top" for best results. Reading this load configuration is opposite? 5s on top of 9s? interesting...

9s on top of 5s.

I hadn't thought about the shot string.  I don't have an interest in anything other than lead in a 12.  I was just posting for the group.

Has anyone used this shot finally? Any thoughts/opinions on it? I know its a year old thread im just curious myself. Also, does the shot string matter when the pellets are all flying at over 1200fps?

Shot string doesn't matter at all on a stationary target no matter the speed. Wingshooting is a different matter. Duplexing lead and TSS is not a new thing. I, and many other handloaders, have been doing it for many, many years. This Salt Creek offering may be the first commercially available option. With the price of TSS going through the roof, it is not a bad option.

That is what I had thought. Its not as powerful/effective as plain old tss right? Not trying to start a war with that questions lol. I mean in the sense that it doesnt have as much tss as a pure tss #9 shell. So it would theoretically have less shot hitting a bird at further distances say 40yds.
