The Buice hoard is in full blown effect no doubt. I've seen several large collections and the owners want only one thing... more. I agree with you and Mr Billy, it's sad and pretty lame.
And Ranger's right, it has a lot to do with $$$

I'm not going to entirely disagree with you, as you are probably right in a lot of cases. But as someone who collects(hoards) trumpets from another high end maker(not Billy's), I can tell you it's not at all about the money for me. If the market dropped out and everyone started selling theirs tomorrow, I'd be happy to buy them at reduced prices knowing that I threw thousands of dollars away on the ones I already own. It's about the respect, friendships, sentimental value, and stories for me. And yes, I do not hunt all of them every season, but they have all seen the woods and will again. Most have drawn blood. Some people can have endearment for non living objects, I am one of them.

I fought being a call collector for a longtime and shared the sentiments that some here are saying, but I feel some are being hypocritical in their thoughts. I have more calls than I can hunt in a given year. Without traveling I can only kill two birds and if all my youngins killed their two that would just be 6 more, I have more than eight trumpets. Some of these were given to me by friends, why should I not keep them. Some are from call makers that I have built friendships with. Some are calls I plan to pass down to my youngins.

What another man does with his money is none of my business, year there was a time I thought it should be cause I wanted what he had. I do not own a call that I will not hunt. Vast majority have seen a kill or two, but all have seen the woods at one time or another. Anyway, I agree with Mr. Billy's thoughts but also know I have so many tags to use.

Also, the monetary value means little to me.

All of these calls are priceless because that's all I have left of him. Some thing you can't put a price on, to me and a lot of other people Billys calls are one of them.
