In your opinion, what are the best turkey calls out there. We all have different experiences and skill levels. As many as you want to do. I am in no way an accomplished caller with any of them, lol. I just like the way they sound and produce. Z

I would say in no particular order. Cody both slate and glass, Paul Durham box and pot. also Parks pot calls. Slaton trumpet. I know I am forgetting some. Need to get my calls out and practice then I will remember

Tail Feathers

Tough to narrow some of them down.
Pot call:  I have a Pat Strawser slate that has been very, very good for me.  I have a firedup crystal that just seems to entice them.  Lots of good ones, but I'll stop there.
Mouth call:  If I could only have one, Scott Ellis New Energy from Woodhaven. About anything Sadler McGraw makes is good.
Box call:  I don't carry one often, but our own firedup makes a good one.  I have an Albert Paul that sounds real nice.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

Since the beginning...I've evolved. Started with a 21-pocket vest loaded with two of everything (nicknamed it Noah's ark putting it on in the mornings, two of everything, but more how that vest weighed the same as his ark).

Today, just a Snodgrass long box or mini boat in a Yoder 'tank-tough' holster on the belt, a turned trumpet and either Sharpe or Ezolt Jordan, or Tony's wing bone around my neck. I carry a Gooserbat ICE call too (just the perfect little mouth caller). Picked up a Van Cise handled box last spring....I can confirm that Matt's got it all figured out with his boxes, perfect for spring or fall.

If it rains, I'll maybe, or maybe not, add my Woods Wise waterproof short box. I travel light.
A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409

Over time...they come to learn how little air a good yelper actually requires. ChesterCopperpot

Sit down wrong, and you're beat. Jim Spencer                          Don't go this year where Youtubers went last year.

I hear you.  I find myself going lighter and lighter.  I pack all of this gear and typically use the same 5-6 calls.  This year I am going with a padded belt with molle attachments.  No weight on shoulder and no warmth of vest.  I may look like the camouflage Batman with my belt but should make being mobile easier.

This was me last spring, at the height of my own complication.

I'm 54 years old and have had 3 discs fused due to an accident.  I  do not use a turkey vest.  I carry a homemade wingbone, a Preston Pittman mouth call, a possum fork tube call, my Glenda Green seat cushion (it has been a lifesaver) and starting next spring a Roger Parks slate.  I try to keep weight down to the bare minimum.

I have way to many good ones but I never leave home without my Watkin box or Lonzo's crystal carbon fiber
