Delrin trumpet yelper

Delrin just might be the perfect material for making trumpet yelpers, but it is a mess to turn. Several friends, all very respected, well-known trumpet yelper builders also think highly of delrin. Even though I have a wood bias, I have never made a wood trumpet yelper that sounded any better than the delrin trumpet pictured here. The word has gotten out about delrin. This one is on its way to its new home in Georgia.

I had a gentleman ask me today why I charged the same price for delrin as I charged for wood. Delrin is a cheaper material; but it takes me 3x the amount of time to turn and 3x the amount of time to sand and polish. Not including the mess it makes in my shop and the number of times I have to stop and start my lathe to clear things so I can see what I'm doing....LOL!!!

BTW, that delrin trumpet yelper is definitely under there...........

I too am a wood lover when it comes to turkey calls but there's no denying the appeal of something that can basically last forever. Nice job on that beautiful caller!

Me too I love the wood from earth.  100 percent better.  But I've learned from running calls that delrin is an easy call to run.  Just have to make adjustments in your thinking

As nice looking as some woods are, it's hard to beat Delrin for its sharp response in playing. Made a pretty cool looking call also. Nice job Marvin!!!

I love a wood trumpet, but brother, you knocked that out of the park.

Mighty fine delrin horn Marvin! I really enjoy wood trumpets but delrin horns are great for rainy days!

The good Lord ain't made a gobbler I can't kill.  I just gotta be there at the right time.....  on the day he wants to die.
