Where did it go?

I swear, you have a decent chat going with some good thoughts and opinions going, and the next thing ya know..... poof. Actually, I have a pretty good idea where it went. Was pretty sure it was headed downhill last night, so I walked away from it. I wish I wouldn't have been so busy today so I could have at least appreciated the crash. My apologies, fellas. Sometimes, I get curious on how others feel about things and like to have some discussions in the off-season. Guess I best not do that anymore.

Welp... I'm just an ordinary average hunter who does extra ordinary things sometimes. I'm definitely no elitist.

I'd like to think I have a little common sense.. but they also say common sense ain't too common anymore.

I like to stay open minded and listen to all views. Off season discussions open up  :z-dizzy:  :z-dizzy:  :z-dizzy:  :z-dizzy: some emoji's sometimes.

I agree tracky. However, I was profiled as an elitist here a while ago, and it is a burden I must bear. It kinda has a cool ring to it, though, and the benefits ain't bad.

In short, Happy asked for personal opinions about whether, in struggling turkey populations, each of us would prefer more restrictive seasons and bag limits...or whether we would prefer more restrictive hunting methods. Suffice it to say the discussion started to get out of hand and the thread was apparently removed in violation of the "play nice" rules...  ;D  :angel9:

Ohhh I see the bouncing ball Happy. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

I still pick B
With some adjustments.

I'm always in here poking around in the off season. However.. Not as much as when the season is in.

I'm "usually" in the middle of the road.. "sometimes"
I'm all for if it's a good idea let's go with it. It really doesn't matter who has the idea. I appreciate the off season topics.

If I get one of them electric bikes do I qualify to be an elitist 🤓 Asking for a fellow turkey hunter?

I have other things to do than sit in front of a screen all day so I missed the crash. Last I saw the thread it was the same old guy calling people names cause they don't agree with his let it burn philosophy lol. He was warned but I guess he kept it up, I'm not surprised. He doesn't appear to have much else going on.

Ihuntoldschool

I missed the end of it. Im sure MANY didn't like my ideas on restrictions.

But the thing is just because someone has a different viewpoint or opinion than you doesn't mean theyre attacking you.

We went through similar discussions several years ago and I was in the very slim minority of opinions. But maybe the tide is starting to turn just a little.  Maybe just maybe a few more hunters are interested in "How you play the game or the rules " now.

It was a good discussion aside from personal attacks

I see topics like these going off the rails not so much for what is said, but rather, how it is said.

If one tells me that they think some hunting methods should be banned and outlines the reasons why, I usually think, well, I can see your points on these and agree with at least some of them.

If one tells me anyone with half a brain should know... everything else goes out the window and are lost to me because I don't like being called an idiot for potentially having a different opinion.

It really comes off to me, when someone takes that approach, is that they are saying anyone who hunts differently than me is an idiot who should not be in the woods and it really seems like that is the message they want to convey and it really rubs me the wrong way. It doesn't hurt my tender feelings, I just hate arrogance.

I saw that the posts where going that way when I commented.

The real answer is to have a balanced approach on the subject and understand that people are different and as such, hunt differently than others and try to accommodate all hunters the best as they can. all the while preserving the species for future enjoyment.

I thought it was a good thread, not really out of hand, imo, but I missed the end bit.
I hope my questioning of the mental acuity of pro reaper/fanners didn't push this thing over the edge.

Tracky,
To the contrary. Under elitist code 3.1, subsection 4A, there is an addendum.
It basically says that unless you are walking at least 3 miles from your vehicle, you can not be in the Elitist club. You could possibly loose even more points if your vehicle has any hunting related stickers on it as well. It's public land hunting only, as well, because that's the only place you can find any challenging turkeys to hunt.

However, if you drive your ebike even further, in the opposite direction of the area that you intend to hunt and manage to rip through some private land, busting up those flocks of easy turkeys away from those daggone feeders and food plots. Well, you might get nominated for knighthood.

BTW. This is all in good humor. I find amusement on both sides of the fence when it comes to turkey hunting. I tend to hunt more in a 1980's style just because i feel that that is where the fun and challenge is for myself. I may give opinions, but I ain't telling anyone how they have to do it. Be legal and be safe and keep our stewardship above our desire to kill.
