Suggestion for those unfamiliar with using a crow call as a locator: The primary consideration in choosing one is the loudness of the call. Given the choice between choosing a call that sounds more like a crow...compared to one that sounds less like a real crow but is loud, choose the loud call.  :icon_thumright:

Yeah, I'll go the other direction there. If we are talking public land, I want to sound like a crow. Not like a crow call.

I think a realistic call will absolutely get you more gobbles from pressured birds, and just as important, you sound like a real crow to other hunters. I don't want other hunters knowing where I'm at. Unfortunately, most hunters on public today will walk towards other hunters instead of away. You fellas blowing crow kazoos give yourselves away to easily.  :z-twocents:

x10!!  Exactly!!  I don't crow hunt, I just need something so loud it blows the ear drums out of those gobblers causing a reflex gobble even when they don't want to.  Loudness is key!

Where I hunt, it seems loudness is the key factor of getting one to shock gobble.  Of course that's assuming it still at least resembles a real crow sound.  I agree about the hunter thing... why do most walk towards a hunter??  If I hear another hunter I'm making tracks the opposite direction.  Thanks for the perspective.

As far a loudness goes, from the calls that have been mentioned in this thread so far, which are known for their loudness factor?  Thanks!
