Got my NY bird opening morning using my red slate/persimmon Buster call. Hoping to fill my last tag using the bow and the same call.

I already had the red slate. Just received the old hen. What striker are you using with it? It seems to be a little more fussy with strikers than the red slate. Thanks!!

I think most guys that have one use a granadilla made by JLH

That's what I'm hearing! Love his red slate and I'm sure this will be just as good.

I am in your same boat and am planning on ordering a 3 pack from Buster shortly. I emailed him a month ago and he said it would be about a two month wait. Seemed like a really nice guy. I am going to get an Old Hen for sure and given the comments here probably a ceramic in a pot of his choosing and a glass in a pot of his choosing. Any input would be welcome.

Could someone pm me his email. I'm not on Facebook and would like to get onto his wait list as well. Thanks

Just received my Old Hen yesterday.  Boy, it is a player.  Hickory and Liberty wood make it sing.  Waiting for Jeff to finish my Finnish so I can give it a try.

I've ordered an Old Hen and a Red Slate/Persimmon and will have to talk to JLH soon about some strikers. I'm a box call hunter only for the most part so I'm a little clueless on strikers but I'm sure he'll be able to sort me out.

Jeff will shoot you straight.  You will get a lot of opinions on here about which strikers to get for the red slate and old hen.  From personal experince, the Hickory and Liberty sound great on both of those pots. A lot of people like the frog but it is a third place finisher on mine.  I have heard great things about the Finnish laminate and will weigh in when it arrives.  It is on order with a backup Liberty and hickory.
