Anyone have good suggestions for places or outfitters that don't cost a fortune to check out for Rios? I'm wanting to finish my slam either this year or next.

Is mentioning central Texas a spot burn?  Yes I'm being a smart axx but at times this forum gets pretty silly on this subject. Nothing better to do this morning - obviously. Lol

Haha! Well...I think the fact that it's not public land, should ease the minds of those that boycott all things turkey related ;)

With a little planning, you can hunt any Rio land on your own, without guides, outfitters, or anything.

Texas is, of course, basically a private land state. There are a few hunts to be had that are DIY and fairly cheap.

I would like to stay as close to 1k as possible but less is better.

Good to know. Hope for a Rio in the near future also.  Just got a PM from a guy about Osceolas.  Said he saw a $5500 price for a Florida hunt.  Crazy times.  Hope that was an exaggeration or a price for two with accommodations at a Ritz Carlton.

It is crazy what some outfits are charging. I contacted an outfit in Nebraska, they wanted $3k for a merriams hunt...... no thanks

Since I was the guy who messaged, I figured I'd come clean. Now the sticker shock got me before I read the whole thing but regardless, I don't think the included "half day in shore fishing trip" has much monetary value...comparatively.

A 1/2 day inshore guided trip is around $500 last I looked.  Probably $600 now that tarpon season is approaching.  If it was on a head boat with 20 other people a whole lot less.  Hold out for accommodations at the Ritz Carlton in Naples.

Add - brought up the link.  That is for a two day hunt.  Jeez!

That's what I figured. So a $5,000 2 day turkey hunt 😂😂😂. I'm not sure I've spent 5 grand total, in all the years I've been turkey hunting!
