Tail fan plaque

The Eastern turkey was a triple bearded turkey I needed to do something special with, and turned out ok. Have a bunch of tail fans sitting around so figure I would do some more. I put the Old Gobbler patch on it so I wouldn't have to use one of my beards there. I plan on selling this or giving it away and wanted to keep the beard.

The main tail feathers and the black back cape is all one piece. The remaining feathers all around it are individually glued down using Gorilla wood glue.

Love the live edge cedar.  What do you finish it with?  Based on the color, I would guess water based urethane or maybe waterlox.   Either way, very nice.  I may have to do one.  I have a lot of cedar laying around.

I put three coats of Minwax Wipe-On Poly. It is a polyurethane protection, will see in time yet how much it will still fade.

It is cedar.  It will fade.   I have a headboard and mantel I finished with waterlox and it is beautiful still 5 years down the road.  I think the time gives it character and it will look awesome.

Those look great!

I use clear silicone squirted on a piece of cardboard and brush it on and lay the individual feathers down to glue it to the board.

Thanks, I do have plans to maybe do more for extra cash and fun. I Donated a plaque to be done by me to our local Stearns Country Thundering Tom's in MN; banquet end of March. It will be going up for action, I will be doing something similar for the highest bider with the turkey they shoot. I hope that starts to give me a price range people feel my time is worth.
