my son currently shoots a NEF single shot youth 20 ga with a fixed full barrell.  I know it is no more than 5 pounds and it has a 22" barrell.  With a 3" federal #7 HW at 30 yards we got 203 in a 10" circle.  I was very impressed with that gun and it is not expensive either.

I just got my gun back from h&r. They fitted my receiver for a 20 ga. vent rib with screw out choke 28 inches. Havent shot it with turkey ammo yet but with primos tight wad and remington 6 shot it put 145 and 153 in a 10 inch circle at a measured 30 yards. Looks promising.

Waited for nearly a year for production to start back up on the 20ga screw in choke models, tired of the wait ordered a 20ga pardner and sent the barrel out to Colonial Arms in Alabama to thread the barrel. They did a good job quickly,it now has a PG.570 and throws a great hunting pattern with Federal heavy 7's.Couple cans of Krylon and a sling and its good to go.Spent hull still hangs though, now its a "true single shot".

Pick one up off Gunbroker last year. Had it drilled & tapped for a red dot and threaded for a choke.  Added the synthetic stock and survivor forearm.

Savage 220A is the dedicated single shot 20Ga I decided on, very happy with it, cut down to 25", doctor optic on top

I did the same. If I could find another 20 ga NEF .20 without the rib, I would buy it and send it off for threaded chokes for my son.

CB on the run

It would be hammerless.  You'd have to shop around.  Only a couple models made.

Savage 220 is the ONLY hammerless 20ga single shot I know of. Do you know of another?

Here's the Savage

Here's a 40yd pattern with my heavyweight 15g handload

I'm liking that savage.  Does Remington still we'll the SPR-100?

Will that savage 220 shoot a 3 inch shell?  If so did you have the chamber lengthened or was it originally made to shoot them?

Gadget

Had a 28" fixed full choke barrel, had it cut down to 25" and tap for tru-choke. Also had barrel polished, chamber lengthened to 3" and forcing cone lengthened. Plus had swivel studs put in for sling, safety mod, trigger job, firing pin/spring mod, stock shave mod, custom ground limbsaver, Docter Optic sight on top and finally Dipped in APG by Duracoat. Gun Docc did all this work, he's done the Savage 220 like this for many people and is what he hunts with himself.

The only other option besides the Savage 220 will be the Remington SP100 in a hammerless singleshot.
