I saw a post on FaceBook stating Illinois is shutting down state lands due the spread of COVID-19. Can anyone confirm?
There is a lot of fake stuff going around, so I would call them tomorrow.
Saw a similar post on wmas in Florida.
Looks legit, We have a few weeks before south zone opens and a month for north zone.
Maybe this will be sorted out by then?
Everything is back to normal April 1st as of now. This is getting rediculas. I bet if you showed and a CPO were near, you will be ticketed.

i read that the state parks are closed
Just checked their FB page and it is going nuts over there...has 474 comments already.
My questions:
Will people who solely hunts, fish, hike, etc. be reimbursed for their permits?
Where are groups like NTWF at in this type of overstepping?
Is this setting up for future removal of hunters/outdoorsman's rights?

Youth season is the only season open in March. It will effect youth hunters on public land only.

That's a shame. In Maryland hunters safety courses are being canceled until further notice. Both my boys were scheduled to attend April 3rd. We will see how this plays out.

I may have missed something, but the post I saw had this:
" Effective immediately, all IDNR-owned properties are closed to the public to help stem the spread of COVID-19. All scheduled events on state property are effectively cancelled; patrons are encouraged to call IDNR's Parks administrative line Monday through Friday at 217-782-6752 with questions."
No dates were associated with the closure notice. I also googled it and there is no further explanation.
The governor shut down restaurants and schools till the end of March,so you would think until something changes,April 1st.

Next thing is stay in your homes and don`t come out! Just creating hysteria. I was in a store today guns and ammo flying off the shelves. I have been turning off the news.
Yes....it's getting out of hand.

Our Governer I just heard last night not recommending schools to keep kids home.
Kids just informed me NO SCHOOL possibly for 4 weeks. WTH...
I'm not hunting Illinois this spring....but what is the logic behind this? What are the chances someone being in the woods will spread the virus? Our entire state school system is shut down K-12. That's what these idiots need less schooling lol. This whole entire thing has gone stupid.
Don't be radical. It is for the public good.
Man I hope MN doesn't do this. It's been on my mind recently...
I mean in a sense the woods is the one place where there is no Coronavirus.
I live in Illinois and this jerk Gov we got is on a power trip. I'm a truck driver whis home every night but I travel to 5 different states around me daily. What's going to happen with that you think?
My wife is from Illinois and her family still lives there. We live in Tennessee on the Kentucky border just north of Nashville. The governor of Illinois has also shut down all restaurants and bars in the state, my in-laws own two small diners in Manteno and Kankakee this is definitely going to have a significant impact on them and their small staff of employees. So far on Tennessee the governor is leaving it up to each individual town/city/county on which actions to take. Honestly I can not for the life of me figure out how someone that is fishing or hunting is going to spread or catch Coronavirus. Most people go by themselves or with one other person, people that are hunting and fishing have "social distanced" themselves more than anyone else. People need to stop freaking out and hoarding items, still not sure why a respiratory issue would cause you to need 150 rolls of toilet paper for two weeks. The media is getting out of hand with this stuff also I just stopped watching it altogether, at this point all they are doing is spreading fear. Sorry for the rant guys
Shutdown includes state boat ramps.
It's not about keeping us out of the woods. If the state sites are shut down, you are not allowed in. Not the first time. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200316/9be8e30649d4db2ed034bf6ef7d3177e.jpg)

Y'all have me worried, not about the virus but with my state being as stupid as they are on a normal day what will happen if they find out about Illinois closing public land? I have never violated a hunting law, never found a reason to. But they gonna have to start a special task force to follow me everywhere if they plan on stopping me from hunting.
I hope it ends before the season starts for you guys.
Illinois closing game lands due to covid 19 epitomizes the phrase "you're never too old to learn something stupid"
They should be encouraging people to get outside, hike and enjoy the outdoors or visit the Metro Parks.
Ignorant politicians making dumb decisions...

me too
Guess my tag I've paid for will be useless if this lasts until 4th season.

Now all court time paid on line . Reservations set on line . She points to the open court when they show up . Hope it works for us all .

As others have pointed out, stopping activities such as hunting, which acts as one of the best methods of "social distancing", is illogical. Illinois hunters, as well as all other outdoor recreational users, should be at this moment writing/calling/emailing the Governor and DNR and any other state agency that could have been involved in this action and DEMANDING that these closures be lifted.
Organized outdoor groups across the state should be contacting their lawyers and preparing to file for an injunction against this. Banning activities which would, by their very nature, help with the problem is irrational. Band together and make it clear to your leadership that this is unacceptable and, if nothing else, will be remembered come election day!
Yeah what better way to " social distance" than hunting? We have wide open spaces? Once again bureaucracy at its finest. The outdoors isnt a crowded restaurant or bar.
Unbelievable :turkey2:
Do you guys think they will shut down state lines

Well, at 5pm tomorrow, Illinoisans are on "stand in place" orders
So, what the heck about TURKEY SEASON??!! In effect until April 7. Youth season is next weekend.
I dont think turkey season is happening in IL unless you can walk to the woods from your house. Pritzker speech was a setup for the next step, total lockdown.
I will be turkey hunting in Illinois.
Hunting and fishing is allowed, just not state land.
What about Federal land in Illinois?
