I hate to say this but I believe there is a chance that this dam virus could affect my spring travel plans!!
I hope not but only time will tell.
What our your thoughts?
Thanks for all the messages about conditions around the turkey hunting world. I think as a traveling spring hunter it would be a good idea to start a new topic, Reports of traveling conditions during the Virus Outbreak. I have communicated with several hunters who are now starting there spring and hunting!! I hope to leave the 15th for Kentucky and end the season in Maine....BUT that is a great big if right now! With that said if you are traveling or hunting at home, please post what the conditions are like in regard to restrictions and conditions.
Call them up close and shoot them in the face!! AND STAY SAFE, longbeards
If your driving just take the necessary precautions. Wash them hands and stay away from large groups of people. As for me its on.

I'm hunting 6 states this spring. You can't stop living.
If your flying, I would think about CANCELLING! If your driving, maybe not so much.
If your flying you might end up getting some of the cheapest flights ever

We all die sometime lol. I haven't put anything into it at all. We'll be in Alabama in 2 weeks camping. Doing some family stuff for the first couple days and then my wife has given me the full blessing to hunt, at least in the mornings! I'm excited because that's a month before our season comes in, in Indiana.
My dad always use to say the saying "Close the gate after the horse ran off "
You didnt have to be Nostradamus to predict this disaster ---this is not the first time a virus like this this has happened, and originated from " Peoples Republic of China " they have simply got to clean up thier act and stop eating illegally trafficked wildlife , and standardize sanitary animal processing , enough is enough
May 9 going to Blacks Hills come hell or high water.
All you fellas traveling to hunt this spring, hit me up. I have a good supplier and plenty of product.

You got that right, plus they say our CDC can't go in , lie about totals and deaths more than likely. Let people travel all over for a while after they had a lot of cases at least according to various media.
Hopefully this thing doesn't get out of hand and resides quickly, although it could get ugly? Guess it depends on one's profession how much you are concerned?
I'm concerned being a Aviation Mechanic for a major airline. I know one major airline has already parked numerous planes and asked many employee's to take unpaid leave, just hope ours doesn't, but time will tell? Seems like many are cancelling outings, meetings, etc. which hurts the airlines, and if it lingers too long, the effect just trickles down to other businesses eventually, so I'm hoping it is short lived?
Great post, keep going my friends. I haven't heard of any gobblers testing positive, so we are safe.... :turkey2:
Media/political hype & fear, every 2-3 years, that's why they call it programming. Divide & conquer is their game, we are all the manipulated pawns.
Amen...
Seven days then to Hawaii for turkey, and yes I am concerned, but going. I'm 64 with a compromised immune system no spleen. So being very careful, my biggest concern is we fly into Washington over night and then fly out next day. Once I can get turkey hunting again won't have a worry in the world.
Untill I have to come home, and get to my next place to hunt turkeys.
The Border patrol needs to block every single individual traveling from ...or returning back from china Iran and all those other places ....
We in florida have several new cases a 2 fatalities from people"traveling abroad" stop playing games and close up the border from these places before we end up like wuhan china

Thats exactly right. To be honest , international travel from and to the United States should have been ceased immediately until they get a handle on this virus. That being said , Im still doing my normal everyday thing and will still hunt 4 states this year.
The wife and I are headed to Cancun March 28 for a week. Just gonna make sure I wash my hands ALOT!

I am heading to Florida in two weeks to hunt with dc ranch. I am flying unless things get worse. Then I am driving the 19 hours
I'm driving and I'll take my chances. :funnyturkey:
You guys that are driving, it looks as if gas is going to be cheap. I just filled up my car for the first time below $2.00 a gallon in a VERY long time. I also just read an article that said oil prices fell in the overseas oil market today to around $30 a barrel. It was off almost $15 today. They are saying PRICE WAR! May spill over to jet fuel as well.
I drive truck for a living, I can guarentee the chances of getting Corona virus is lower than getting into an automobile accident if you choose to drive to hunt.Believe me, I see how many people drive. That being said, good luck to everyone, be safe and God bless

agree, media needs a new story to latch onto. Blown out of portion.. 21 people dead in the U.S. so far.. I guarantee you more people were killed this week by falling trees. There are thousands of other things that have a better chance of killing you..

I wouldn't call it FAKE NEWS because it is going to get alot worse before it gets better in our country. And everyone needs to take this very seriously so we can stop it. This shouldn't have happen at all, partly because our Government didnt think it would make it over to us in the first place. It caught us a little off guard and now it has gotten a good start in our country. But yes lets find some other news to talk about, something good if possible. They warn us now and thats all that can be done till it runs its course for this year. Just one more disease we will have to keep fighting in the coming Years.
Say your prayers and wash your hand because Jesus and germs are ever where.
:angel9:
Please proceed and ignore me, I am still kinda a kid at heart, lol.
Please be safe out there to everyone that travels. Wash your hand and don't touch your face. Be careful when eating out, you might want to consider packing your own lunch. Germ ex in a small tube might keep you from getting sick.
Good luck
Doesn't TSS come from China? Better hold your breath when your reloading or shooting!
I'm all in. We flying out April 14th. Headed to Wyoming
Not at all, but I drive everywhere.
To be fair, it's in the back of my mind, but I have a trip to NM & I fly out April 21 with my dad & I will not miss it. Besides, I have a 7 day trip and the virus has a 7-14 day incubation period, soooo....

Same boat here with the no spleen, I have stopped going to friends who have kids in the winter because I got sick of going to the hospital or getting admitted for a week or more at a time. I have become a bit of a germophobe because of it, I carry hand sanitizer with me everywhere I go in the winter, I don't sit on public toilets unless I have zero choice at all. I do not touch stall doors with my skin, I do not handle doorknobs or handles going into or out of a bathroom (Studies show 69%% of men do not wash their hands when leaving the bathroom and only 5% of those do it correctly)
I will use a paper towel to open the doors and if one is not available I do one of two things, 1 I wait for somebody else to come in or leave or 2 I use my shirtsleeve over my hand to touch the door handle and when I get out to the vehicle I spray my arm and shirt down with an antiseptic. Sounds crazy but I do not end up in the hospital half as much as I used to and I bet doing the same would help others to not contract as many diseases.
And you guys thought I was weird before!
My biggest fear of traveling (especially off the continental U.S.) would not be getting sick, it would be possibly not allowed coming back, or having all flights canceled and getting stuck... And then getting stuck paying for lodging without being able to make an income for any extended period of time.
I run my own business, and there is no doubt that this virus will have a larger effect on the economy than the health of most individuals... Lots of people cancelling appointments... Cannot even purchase toilet paper, hand sanitizer, or paper towels.
