Question: How can President Trump claim to represent all U.S citizens, regardless of sexual orientation, when he banned transgenders from joining the military? Isn't that discrimination?
Trey Gowdy's Response:
"Nobody has a right to serve in the Military. Nobody! What makes you people think the Military is an equal opportunity employer? It is very far from it - and for good reasons - let me cite a few.
The Military uses prejudice regularly and consistently to deny citizens from joining for being too old or too young, too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short. Citizens are denied for having flat feet, or for missing or additional fingers."
He went on to explain: "By the way, poor eyesight will disqualify you, as well as bad teeth. Malnourished? Drug addiction? Bad back? Criminal history? Low IQ? Anxiety? Phobias? Hearing damage? Six arms? Hear voices in your head? Self-identification as a Unicorn? Need a special access ramp for your wheelchair? Can't run the required course in the required time? Can't do the required number of push-ups? Not really a morning person? and refuse to get out of bed before noon? All can be legitimate reasons for denial.
The Military has one job: Winning War. Anything else is a distraction and a liability. Did someone just scream, that isn't fair? War is VERY unfair, there are no exceptions made for being special or challenged or socially wonderful. YOU must change yourself to meet Military standards and not the other way around.
I say again: You don't change the Military - you must change yourself. The Military is not about being fair, it is about taking advantage of others and about winning. The Military doesn't need to accommodate anyone with special issues. The Military needs to Win Wars and keep our Country safe - PERIOD! If any of your personal issues are a liability that detract from readiness, Thank you for applying and good luck in future endeavors.
Any other questions?

Right on. The military is not the place for social experimentation!

Yes. If I remember correctly, he didn't come out as transgender until after he got out.

So true......
Joined the Army in 1995 and spent almost 22 years in the infantry. Got injured in Afghanistan and was eventually medically discharged because of it. At first I was pretty upset because I wanted to keep doing my job. But within the last 4 years it had become one big experiment. Everyday I came to work finding out something new the powers that be wanted to try. Everyday I heard, " You can't do this" or "You can't say that". It became so political and the hands of those that actually had common sense were so tied it was unbelievable. So my retirement was a blessing in disguise. I feel for those that had to deal with all the nonsense but hopefully things are getting back on track.
War is not for the faint of heart. You can't have someone with an identity crisis next to you with a weapon and have the utmost trust in them to have your back. If you're wanting to join the military for equality then I suggest finding other means of employment.

I spent 7 years , 11 bravo. 3rd Ranger Batt and 101st. Went to Panama to help get rid of Noriago and desert shield / Desert Storm. Most people that are making wise cracks referring to we all no who never served or have any idea what combat is like. You can tell who the Liberals are with their little snipes. My hats off to you sir and thanks for your service. "Follow Me" - Iron Mike.
Couldn't have said it better! Thanks to all who served. Bradley Manning makes me sick to my stomach. If there ever was a case for friendly fire,he/she would be a fine candidate
Airborne All The Way! This We'll Defend! Till The End!
:smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an I couldn't agree more! I've always been a fan of ole' Gowdy.
Thank you to all those who have, and continue to serve, allowing us to enjoy the freedoms we so cherish. We're very fortunate that we get to take up arms against turkeys, and not foreign invaders. ;D

Super Christian thought to share on Good Friday...
I was part of the first wave of Marines that invaded Iraq. My MOS was 1812 M1A1 tank Gunner. I have personally seen 18yr old men that stepped up and did things that most wouldn't have the courage to do. It takes a special breed of person to fight day and night for 6 months to a year periods. Having said this, I would still sign up again if I could (it was extremely hard for my family and I had promised my wife I would get out at the end of my 4yr contract (she was very upset when I got stop lossed and was held for an additional 4months)).
I don't think people realize just how much you sacrifice day in and day out. It's extremely hard on the families. The only communication that I had with my wife while I was in Iraq was snail mail. You can just imagine how the lack of personal contact between us affected her as she learned that Lt. Brian McPhillips had gotten killed (he used to be my tank commander before we shipped out and was switched before we left) and the realization of what I was involved in sank in.
To all that have served, I personally say thank you for your service. God bless.
