Obsession Calls Macassar Ebony
Very funny you should say that, I just ordered a Macassar ebony striker from obsession
Well i have more than one best, it depends on what pot surface i'm plays.. ASH, Hickory, Fred Cox Tulipwood, Ipe, snakewood ....
Ipe
I have a bunch of good ones, and the best all around is a one piece Hank's Lacewood. It sounds great on a lot of calls, and at least good on every decent call I have. Really versatile. Hank matched it to a slate he sold me, and it turned out to be awesome.
I also just got a Stuckey Macassar Ebony / Burl Maple that is very good, a good Stuckey purpleheart and a Stuckey Dymondwood that are good, and a Fowler Tulipwood two piece that is really versatile. I like most of my Stuckey and Fowlers that I have.
Tulip wood and Osage are probably my favorite 2 . Stuckey, Fowler, Cox,Sinclair, are all good and I know I left out several more makers
I have three from West Augusta on here that work well on every call I have but the black locust and Dymondwood he made for me are the very best I have ever ran.
Macassar ebony or Woodhaven strike 3 flair tip work on most surfaces
Spring Allure, the "Segregated" edition
I don't know about the best but I bought a Misfire Australian Cypress at Unicoi last year that works on every pot call that I own.
Stuckeys Mac ebony... excellent on glass and crystal
Stuckey Tulip wood and an old Halloran Ipe that I got in a lot here last year, sounds great on almost any surface.
Don't over look Neal Herrman on the forum , he makes some killer strikers and is always willing to help people on the forum...

Have to agree, I have two diamond wood strikers from him and they make the calls roll over effortlessly.
My own acrylic and purpleheart strikers are my 2 favorites
My #1 is a Cocobolo one piece from Chad Gunzenhauser that runs on everything. I wouldn't trade it for anything

My all time favorite is a yellow heart striker I got bout 25 years ago from heart of dixie game calls. Another favorite is purple heart on slate and glass.
It depends, I like different strikers depending on the call surface. The strikers always in my vest are Halloran hickory, ipe, blood wood, lights out birch, dymondwood and a stuckey Macassar ebony.
Torman hickory.
A walnut over tulipwood from Harold Fowler. Makes a great sound made by a great guy.
You asked for one so my vote goes to tulipwood. In my experience it has been the most versatile on different surfaces. That beind said , i have so many strikers and its hard to narrow down the best one I own. I have a few awesome ones , several good ones and some well not so goodbones. Im a fan of tulip , macassar , dymond , osage , purpleheart , yellowheart and hickory. Those seem to ride along in my vest every year. The maker may change but the wood type pretty much stays the same.
I only use one crystal pot nowadays and I got Neal to make me a couple Rutland dymond wood strikers and there all hen.
Neal's Rutland dymondwood
Bill Lyman snakewood , dymonwood . Stucky macassar an snakewood . The two piece dymonwood that Schaffer sells also .. in that order
Fowler snakewood, Fowler Black Locust, Woodhaven Birch

So did I. Looking forward to working with it, awful lot of folks like them. Right now, my fav is a Harold Fowler walnut top over a tulipwood stem.
Plain ole Hickory works for me. Cedar with a corn cob top for the soft stuff.
Awe man so many fine choices....
Does anyone just run the striker that comes with that call?
Hard to chose so I will give you 2 Stuckey Mac Ebony and a Haloran Purpleheart
Lyman bloodwood and stuckey Mac ebony
Stuckey macassar and lyman tulipwood
Yingling Black locust. Best striker I've ever had. Try n get one with every call I get from him just to have them around. Have a Sinclair ebony gaboon (I think anyway) that's solid. Hardy game calls dymondwood been good as well. Also, mikes fiber rod. If I don't have at least one of those 3 with me for whatever reason, I don't run a pot call that day. But, I don't leave home without at least one of them so doesn't matter.
