I recorded this little sample of my newly acquired Mark Sharpe wingbone in my back yard, just messing around. I did adjust my hand placements so there are some sequences that are "better" than others. I hesitated to share this as I didn't want to disparage Mark's wingbone's with my lack of skill...lol..... I am approx 25 yards away from my cell phone recorder, trying to play softly. I am having fun learning to play this call and hope to be good enough to hunt with it by March.....wish me luck!!

Nice! And I don't think you need luck after listening to the sound file. Your well on your way, if season opened tomorrow I wouldn't hesitate to hunt with it. And by March you will be even more proficient with it.
Have fun with it and keep doing what your doing by experimenting with different things.
Hey, thanks guys, nice to hear from others that I don't sound like something other than a turkey... I love practicing with it, so I am hopeful that I will get better. Recording myself in the woods has been helpful too, I will continue to do that as I progress.

Best thing you can do is record the way you are. You can actually see what it sounds like in the woods and what the birds would hear. Keep going, you can hunt it as Mr. Ronnie stated and by March you will be really ready to go.
It certainly helps tremendously having a well built call such as Mark's, but I'd say you played that wingbone very well. Great wingbone + good caller = deadly combo!!!!

Wholeheartedly agree on Mark's talents....
You sound TURKEY.... :icon_thumright:
Congrats on a great call!
You wont find many better
Also wanted to say what a nice guy Mark is, always a pleasure to chat with him.
your sounding good and March won't be any problem
great looking call
Nice all the way around - sounds good, and it's a beauty! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
Another great wingbone by Mark and you ran it very well too!

Thanks again guys, definitely feeling more confident with the call. Take this FWIW as I have limited experience with wingbones and trumpets, but my impression so far is that the wingbone call gives me a wider variety of tone, while being slightly trickier to play consistently. At this point my ears prefer the wingbone.
Glad you like that call Gregg! They do take a good bit of practices, but once you get the hang of them, it will be hard to leave them at home!!

Hey Mark, the call has already found a spot around my neck and I plan on hunting with it.....I practice like a maniac, driving to and from work(when safe), one-handed, people must think I am smoking something as I am sure they have no clue what a wingbone is...lol
Beautiful call! You run it very well too. Good luck

Thanks Bowguy.....I am having so much fun learning to play this call, believe I have gotten a little better too. I will make another sound file before the season opens. I think the wingbone sounds woody, leaning towards a box call/scratch box in the woods, especially the clucks, which I think is a good thing.....it is unique sounding which I like.
Glad you like the call Greg! Would love to hear another sound file after you've been playing and getting used to the call! They do have a unique sound in the woods!!

I will certainly try to do another recording before March......My neighbors dogs bark like crazy when I practice out back, hopefully the turkeys will be as responsive....lol
Gregg
Sounding good!
Can't go wrong with Marks calls. Looking forward to the wingbone to go with the cane call I've had a couple years.

Thanks Anthony....I was really enjoying your trumpet too, until I stepped on it. Crazy, it caught on the truck door, flung to the ground as I was taking a step and ...crunch...I tried to glue it back together, but she lost her voice..lol...no worries I will get another one some day. I want another wingbone, cane, and trumpet, Unicoi here I come :toothy9:
Well played.
