I enjoy reading books on turkey hunting and managing. I have several books already, but I am looking to add a few more. I just want to ask everyone, what is your favorite turkey hunting/management book? Thanks for the input!
Old Pro Turkey Hunter is my favorite. Illumination in the Flatwoods is a good one and so is One Man Game.

I just finished America, Wild Turkey & Mongrel Dogs Life Lessons from a Hunting Master by Kenny Morgan. Highly recommended.
Illumination in the Flat Woods, was a tough read for me. It was good, but I had to force my way through it. turkey Hunters Bible, by Ray Eye. And of course the 10th Legion.

It is a tough read. I am about 45% through it and not getting much out of it. Some intriguing parts, but that's about it so far.
I read the 10th legion, its entertaining and has some good quotes.

They made a great PBS show based on Illumination in the Flat Woods called "My Life as a Turkey" Not much of a hunting show but it was a good nature movie.
Anything and everything Tom Kelly
Also a good one just for laughs that is outdoors in general would be Bill Heavey's books. He writes the articals for the last page of Field and Stream. His books are collections of those mixed with some short stories
Anything by Lovett Williams but especially Wild Turkey Hunting and Management.
* Tenth Legion- Col. Tom Kelly
* Illumination in the Flatwoods- Joe Hutto
* Turkey Hunters Digest- Jim Spencer
* Bad Birds- Jim Spencer
* Truth Series - Cuz Strickland
* The Turkey Hunters- Brian Lovett
* Tomfoolery 2000- Earl Groves
* PHD Gobblers- Hunter's Specialties
All of these are outstanding reading and essential if you are serious about a turkey hunting book collection. They are mostly about hunting, hunting skills and hunting stories. For turkey management you'll want to find anything by Lovett Williams or Roger Latham who were both Biologists. Amazon is a great resource for all of these books as you can find great deals on used copies in good condition. Happy reading!

:agreed:
Jim Casada's Remembering the Greats is a great book about the legends of turkey hunting. His turkey hunting bibliography is a tremendous resource on the literature of the sport. Anything turkey is worth reading.
Ray Eyes 'Turkey hunters bible' is my favorite.

Looked at Kenny Morgans new book but $45...wow. I am hesitant of getting that as I have his "One Man Game" book (loved it) and so many times the second book has a lot of the authors first book in it.
I don't think you'll regret getting it. There is so much in it that isn't in the first book.

Ray Eyes 'Turkey hunters bible' is my favorite.
Yep! & his Practical turkey hunting strategies... Ray is very entertaining!
I have all of the ones mentioned so far and they are all worth owning. Another I would highly recommend is Turkey Hunting: Spring and Fall by Doug Camp.
Ultimate Turkey Hunting by Harold Knight & David Hale w forward by Wade L. Bourne. I probably learned more out of that book than any other book starting out. Early 90's time period I believe. They were just starting to use the Mossberg 835. Good read with their history and many good stories.
One of my favorites is a book by one of our current (or perhaps, past) members here, Tom Weddle (Hookspur) titled "Turkey Tails and Tales from Across the USA". It has only been out a couple of years, but I highly recommend it as being both entertaining and informative, as well as being very well written.
"East of the Slash" by Wade Wineman.
Definitely agree Gobblenut, Weddle's book is another great read. .......and by a fellow Hoosier. A buddy loaned it to me and it was quite enjoyable.
Of what I've read The Old Pro Turkey Hunter by Gene Nunnery is my favorite. I read it several times a year.
Bob
The Old Pro is my favorite Tenth Legion would be second and The Season would be third

Where can I purchase this book? Also, I want to thank everyone for all of the input. Many of these I have and some I do not have. I love comparing different strategies and techniques with different hunters. I try to take a little from each book and try to encompass it in my own style of turkey hunting. You can never learn too much.

This was the book that got me started turkey hunting. My dad bought it and a box call for me when I was in fourth or fifth grade.
Turkey Hunting with Charlie Elliott is another good one
Bunch of good books to read out there. Depends if you like hunting stories or more "how to's". For management and biology you cant beat Lovett Williams. Somebody mentioned Roger Latham too. Some of his ideas from the 50's have changed now but the difference is interesting. Couple books by Wayne Bailey are solid. Dickson's "The Wild Turkey" is packed with good info. Lots of choices. Heck...read em all.
You can get Hookspur's book on Amazon but if you get it direct from him you can get it signed. Same $$. A pm here should reach him.... ;).
For those that have shown interest, anybody that wants to order Tom Weddle's book "Turkey Tails and Tales from Across the USA" can order directly from him for a signed copy:
Paperbacks are $25 and hardbacks $35. He will take care of postage. Checks or money orders are best, sent to Tom Weddle @ PO Box 7281, Bloomington, IN 47407.
Again, this is a really well-written, informative, and entertaining book.
If you start with McIlhenny's (Jordan') book, "The Wild Turkey and Its Hunting" and stop there, you.will be ahead of the curve. If you must read further, Kenny Morgan's books contain some real gems of wisdom. Kenny's copy of McIlhenny's book was my first book learning experience and I was too dumb to understand it's lessons then. I've learnt.
