I just got the "okay" to release information about 3 new turkey loads for 2016.
I'll post a link to the article as soon as it's finished.
I think you'll like this one.
Thanks,
Clark

With that they could leave out the resin. It would pattern all by itself.

looking forward to reading it clark
Sorry for the delay in the information to you all. I ran into a "glitch" that had to be repaired and hopefully will have that done very soon.
You'll be the first to see the information.
Again, sorry for the delay.
Thanks,
Clark
Here's the link to an article on "Triple Beard" the new turkey loads from Environ-Metal, makers of Hevi-Shot products.
As a reader of OG and allaboutshooting.com you're seeing this first. http://allaboutshooting.com/article_info.php?articles_id=809
I hope you enjoy the brief article and again apologize for my delay in getting it done for you.
Thanks,
Clark
Thanks Clark. I guess I'll be trying a box. I can't wait to see the pattern board.
An SRP of $15.99 for the 3" beats the longbeard XR prices where I am! Hopefully they perform just as well or better.
Clark- are these copper plated shot?
Thanks Clark!! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
They will sell a bunch mainly cause the box looks cool.

Great question. The highest quality, plated shot availability I'm told.
Thanks,

I like the way these sound. What would you recommend for a choke for these? I was planning on trying longbeard xr's with the carlson longbeard xr (which I think is .665) choke in my SXP turkey hunter. Would that same choke work with these shells? Obviously I'd pattern, but if I wanted to shoot both, I wouldn't want to have to have 2 different chokes.
Thanks Clark, this is going to be interesting to see if they will rival the longbeard patterns. Hopefully they are a little more open up close and 40yd patterns are better than standard 3" 6's. I would settle for 160's to 180's at 40 if the 15-20 yd patterns are a little more open. Only down side I see is Pb 7's will make up a 1/3 of the pattern and @ 40 not sure how well they will perform on the turkey as compared to all 6's. Guess it is all speculation until we burn the powder.
Woo doggies!
I love new stuff!

Hmmm....Let's through some #7 lead in there to bring up the pellet count. ::)
I'd like to try the 20ga. Flavor!

I suspect that it will work quite well with that choke tube. Only some range time will tell of course.

Clark
Im not too sold on these new shells. I would prefer Hevi to lower its prices instead :z-dizzy:
Too bad they don't make them in 10 ga ????

Thanks for the info Clark. Have you heard what merchants will be carrying the Triples? I would love to see what the 3 1/2 7's will do in my 835 with the .670 Pure Gold.

You're welcome. Mack's Prairie Wings is always a good source for Hevi-Shot products and I expect that you'll see them in Bass Pro, Cabela's, Academy, etc. They will make their debut next week at the SHOT Show and that's where all the buyers will be placing orders for them. I'll know more after that.
Thanks,
Clark

From what I gather these are only available in blends of 5,6 and 7's.
The 20g is interesting for sure

Speedball waterfowl loads are supposed to have a much thicker copper plating on the shot (on the steel shot).
Claiming to increase the density, did they do this to the lead shot?
If so does this work and by how much?

Yeah I'll pass.
It is still lead, sure birds will be killed with it, but it is not hevi shot, and I suspect a lot of cripples will be the results of theses shells, like the 3rd degrees from federal, keep the range inside 40 yards and they should do well.
Great! Just what I need. There goes another few weeks pay playing at the range. Glad I have about 30 chokes to test.
Thanks for the info Clark.
As with any other shell, choke or gun, only range time will tell us how they perform. Keeping our shots at 40 yards or under, knowing our equipment and enjoying the hunt, help us remember exactly why it is we love this sport so much.
It's good to see companies introducing new shotshell products again. Lead as well as tungsten-based shells offer us alternatives and choices in what we shoot and how much we spend to do that.
We're seeing 2 different approaches to reducing the malformation of the lead shot upon setback, resin and the Speedball, Mixed size shot loads have been around for a while but with the 3rd Degree shells and now the Triple Beard we're seeing something a little different.
Thanks,
Clark
Pretty exciting, thanks for sharing. There will be a few bruised shoulders this year patterning this stuff. Interested in the numbers.

Thanks for the info Clark. I don't understand why some of these guys have a issue with hevi's prices. Before I started shooting them I had to ordernitros and they were some what more expensive than them. I get close to the same results from hevi and switched. Hevi's prices are as competitive to other lead alternative loads and it appears this new load will be price competitive also. I'd love to know their deal, ammo is just costly period nowdays so to me don't blame them.
What would have been interesting is that they could have put that amount or more of the hevi 7's in instead of lead 7's. With the popularity of their hevi 7 loads it would have made since.
Ammo makers ?? Who knows how they come to their decisions.

No! Lead is much more dense than copper. Even standard copper plated shot is less dense than pure or alloyed lead shot.
