:TooFunny: Dang! Hopefully, when you guys shoot something the blood starts pumping :TooFunny:
Hard to post up about NOT hunting. All these gobblers getting killed is about to get me down. I still haven't gotten to hear a gobble yet here in WV. Still haven't seen a gobbler yet either. A little early for here though. Come April 1st they'll be hammering. Have heard some friends seeing strutting with hens. Only 4 weeks until leave for SD.

2 weeks from today I'm scouting in Florida. ;D Expect a phone call April 1-3 sometime.
A phone call saying you've fallen and can't get up? ;)

The beating is about to start. :jackson:
I'm still not scared. :whip2:
Jay, I think this is the calm before the storm. The action will start soon enough. :fud: :gobble:
:toothy12:I hope to get out a little this weekend and snoop around. the scouting report from the boys in Sconsin is sounding good. i still have a month to go, so I'm trying not to peak early.
Normally I don't start till you do, so this is strange for me to get out this early.
Gonna be picking up my mount from last years big bird. I will post up some pics when I get it set up. A little gobbling on the roost action. Saw eight birds strutting this morning all together. It is starting to get going a little bit at least in Kansas. Might do some scouting this weekend.
well hopefully next saturday I get a big one! I've seen him next to the public land Maybe he and I can have a meeting without anyone bugging us. lol And I can bring the big bird home.
Like Ray said, not a lot to talk about when you can't hunt. As you know Jay, I've been working long days, doing contests every couple of weekends and working on the "honey do" list a little. When I can, I sleep! ;D I will give this report though. All winter we've had deer and turkeys visit our backyard. The turkeys all appear to be hens and their offspring. I think 2 are jakes but that's it. We have yet to see a gobbler since we moved here in September. Yesterday, a jake and two of his sisters feed in the yard. As I went back to reading emails, I noticed the jake tear across the yard past the living room window. Hot on his trail was a huge longbeard. My girlfriend later informed me that on her way home she saw one "puffed up", as she put it, down the road from our house. I don't know where the gobblers all go in the winter here in MN but I sure am glad to see them back! :z-guntootsmiley:
Shane, they probably go to the local shelter since its freezing all winter your way. lol
Jay you have us (the team) browbeaten to the point of being speechless!
Either we come with a turkey in hand or say nothing at all!

Got my mount last night. Beauty of a Merriams I killed in North Central Nebraska last year. Scored 74 and had 1.5" spurs. Hopefully I will kill one bigger this year. What do you guys think?

Very nice -
I found 3 very nice longbeards a mere few minutes away from my new North Home!
Now to see if I can get ther permission needed to whack one.
I also found 4 other flocks of which I need to pattern. But in 2 days time I have these 3 Toms - so i will be following them as tme permits.
Next time I hope to be ready with the dang camera!
JW
Jerry, nice mount :icon_thumright: If I can take down an Osceola this year, I need to get serious about a Merriam and a Rio.
It's really startin to pump now approx. 4 weeks to go. When this team gets going it's gonna be like a diesel locomotive rolling down the track. There ain't no stoppin the Red Dawn Raiders!

Nice Looking mount! The last month or so has been crazy for me. My young lab(10yrs old) has a brain tumor or something going on. One day he is fine the next cant walk. But has been fine for the last couple weeks now. Had a NWTF banquet to get ready that we did on the 19th of this month. Only have to move my girlfriend this weekend. Suck because its our opener but looks like rain/snow for the weekend.
I see we got snow/rain moving in also, after 60 degree weather ::) My son and grandson are suppose to be out in Nebraska this weekend for the grandson's first Turkey hunt. Knowing my son barring a blizzard they'll be hunting.
It always seems to snow or get cold right before our opener. Today going to be mid 70's then low 40's with rain/snow for the weekend.
I was out last weekend and saw a lot of sign and a flock where I am going to hunt in WI.
I saw one nice longbeard about 1/4 mile from one of the spots.
I am getting ready but have to wait until May.

This is a new spot that I have not told you about yet. :TooFunny: :TooFunny:
;D We need to get some gobblers scored. Shock Gobble and Awe will have 20 up before we put one down :TooFunny: I think them boys are going to put down 50 plus again this year. Come on April where we shine. :you_rock:
I'll probably be on tomorrow, but after that I might not be back on till April 4th. If I put anything down, I'll give Sugarray a call, and he can relay the info. I'm pretty dang excited. Hopefully, I can match Sugarray from last year's Florida hunt on getting my first Osceola.
Good luck Jay, don't forget to load your gun when you go out. :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
;D I'm going to be shooting my buddies gun. They use scopes down there, which I've never used on a shotgun before. I saw Guesswho's face after the scope got thru tearing it up, and that I can do without. I don't need no big ol scar messing up my good looks. ::)
Good luck Jay on your hunt!
Thanks Dan. I know one thing, I will change this 20 degree weather here for 60-80 down in Florida, gladly. :you_rock:
Good luck in Florida this week Jay! Put a nice one on the board for us!
I'm outta here. Will let you guys know how it's going. See ya.

Dang, it has poured rain all day here. We got in less than 2 hours scouting before the lightning, rain, and high wind drove us out. We did get 2 birds to Gobble, so we are going to set up on one of those tomorrow morning. Good news is the weather is suppose to be nice Friday-Sunday when I'm hunting.
