Lets here fellow brothers of the brush.....
Where do you aim at....the head or the base of the neck?
and why :whip2:
With a gun about midway between the two for me. Just seems like a natural spot to aim at that doesn't move a lot, and keeps stray pellets out of the breast.
With a bow, I'm aiming at the head if using Guillotines, or body shots if using Grim Reapers.
I tend to shoot high so I aim at his feet.
But if I could hit where I aim, I would aim where those red things are on his neck.
If he's past 30 yds I'm aiming base of neck but inside that I'm trying to shoot his beady little eyes out.

I aim in the middle of the neck.
Red wattles.
Inside 20, eye. Past 20, base of neck.
I aim at the base of the neck pretty much regardless of the distance. Its worked pretty well for me so far.
20 to 30yds = eye, 30 to 40yds = base of the neck
Base of the neck or just slightly above it.
Used to aim at the head until I missed one at close range. I watched another guy miss high too. That was enough to make me switch over to shooting at the waddles. Hasn't failed me since!
Base of neck, waddles.
I aim where the feathers end and the neck begins.
With my gun I aim for the head not the neck. Either the gun or the way I shoot it, it shoots just a hair low, and a hair to the left (the bead is not perfectly centered). I am used to shooting it that way so I just aim for the head and maybe a hair to the right. That way I won't shoot too low and probably won't shoot over his head either.
When I use my 835..... I aim for where the feathers end. I have a four power scope mounted on it and I can honestly say that when ever I've pulled the trigger, the bird has been dead.
Now I hunt with my Bear bow and I am aiming for his heart.

yep. and i ALWAYS make him come out of strut before i shoot at him. a simple cluck will get his head up and looking around before i blast him.
I aim for the waddles!
I use a Truglo gobble dot sight, that clamps on the rib of barrel and cannot work lose. Aim for the red waddles if 30 to 40 yds and top of head if a little further. Have used this sight for years and is fool proof....forces you keep your cheek down on the stock for a true sight alignement...just like shooting a rifle with iron sights. Make of steel and the beads are replaceable.....different colors if you want to change out.Have one on wifes gun and also on my grandsons. Just need one at the end of that little red bead and all will be fine! Good hunting all.
I use a Red Dot and the dot is always put where the wattles meet the feathers. I want the center of my pattern to be centered on the neck. Closer ranges will hopefully severe the neck and farther ranges will get the entire neck and head.
I have always aimed for the center of the neck.. That way if I miss high, I will hit him in the head, and if I miss low, I'll hit him in the base of the neck.
I know you should aim for the neck and waddles area but i always tend to gravitate toward aiming at the head.. they keep falling down though :newmascot:
ummm the head...neck AREA
I aim at the base of the neck where the feathers end.
If he's 30 or closer I shoot for the feather line On his neck. If he's beyond that I shoot for the head.
Let him come out of strut then where the feathers meet the waddles. I like to try and save the head as much as possible just in case I decide to mount it. Nothing like a freeze dried head over that rubber garbage...
Waddles.
waddles
Waddles
middle of the noodle
Some where in the feathers on the neck. I've never missed a bird by aiming there but I've missed more than one when I aimed at his head.
between the base of the neck and the head :fud:
I shoot them in the as$ :newmascot:
where the feathers start on his neck, due to movement up, down, side to side and that is at any range that is in range. that is why i shoot a shot-gun for the pattern
:smiley-char092:
Base of the neck.
If I jerk, I know I'm still good!
waddles!!!!!!!
I aim to kill him, usually at the base of the neck.
I shot the waddles off of one last week 10 ga Nitros 20 feet he was pretty dead.
