Title: Quake Claw Sling
Post by: t_eagen13 on February 04, 2012, 08:09:58 PM
Looking at getting a Quake Claw sling in APG. I have an Outdoor Connection Super Sling that's nice, but I'm looking for a sling that grips my shoulder a little more. Who uses or has used the Quake claw and what do you like or dislike about it? Thanks for the help!

I've got one on just about every rifle and shotgun I own. They are the best in my opinion. I prefer the ones with the silent, plastic swivels since they won't scratch wood or rust. I can't think of a con except maybe the ackwardness when trying to wrap the sling around your forearm and wrist for a steady shot with a rifle.
Midsouthshooterssupply.com typically has the lowest price too.

I use the rifle model as it seems to fit my shoulder better. I prefer the quick disconnect swivels, and put camo tape on them to make sure there is no noise....I wish they made the quick disconnect swivels silent.

Forgot to mention that I take the sling off when I sit down.

Lost my post somehow.  Anyway, I love them.  I like the contour best but both are great.

I like them quite a bit.  The last one I got had metal swivels...which I was very glad to see they had changed.

I have one on my ML shotgun and love it.  Why I don't put one on all of my guns is beyond me.

Have the original on my Mossy 935, and the Contour on my rifle. Both have the non-metal swivels and I love both. I had the Super Sling before, and there is no comparison. Go ahead and grab you one...you won't be disappointed.

I think I am upgrading this year too.  I purchased their tree stand straps for last fall and was pretty impressed.  I imagine it will be a lot more comfortable than my padded super sling.

I have a claw sling that does not use swivels and it goes on the shotgun I am going to use for the day. Great product for my style and usage.

I bought my first one of these during mid turkey season last year. I don't think I will ever spend money on another type of sling again. Best there is.

Not to go against the grain, but I'd give the Butler Creek a look. I do own a claw and like it, the BC is just more comfortable to me and still retains the ability to stay in place on your shoulder. #1 & #2 on my list, both great slings.

I have The Claw on a couple of my shotguns and have been very pleased with them.  The only draw back on the camo pattern ones is the camo coating has started to peel off.  I bought one last year in Mossy Oak break up and it was already starting to peel of fby the end of turkey season.  I'd suggest save the extra 10 bucks and get either the solid colors. Cant go wrong with the claw.

Thanks for the heads up. I was fixing to order one and was already on the fence if the camo was worth the extra coin.

Grobec1,
Yes I use the Ultra Flex sling on all my guns. I've tried all types of slings and the Ultra Flex will stick to your shoulder like no other sling will. It's a little pricey but in my opinion will out proform and out last anything out there.
Check it out. Great product.

I use the rifle claw on my SBEll but had to change the front plastic swivel to a metal one. there wasnt enough clearance for the plastic one. love the sling

Good advice..go with base colors. I seen a new one peeling 3 years ago while it was still on the rack for sale..didn't take long to make a decision.

You can pick those up for around $21. If you you have to order it just wait till you need something else to justify shipping..turkey hunters always need something.. :icon_thumright:

The ultraflex slings are pricey but worth it. Bought one last year and used it during turkey season. Put it on my rifle for deer season and now it's on my 835 in anticipation of turkey season. When a little extra money is laying around will probally get another on so I won't have to keep switching.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I think that the shotgun slings are now being made with the metal swivels instead of the Hush Stalker plastic swivels, can anyone verify that? Curious as to what everyone thinks about the swivels. I take my sling off when I sit down so I think I would like the metal ones as I think they're easy to take off. I'm a little worried about the noise and the swivels scratching my gun though and rust.

If you do any running and gunning, you will appreciate the Quake sling. No more sling sliding off the shoulder, it stays put.

I personally did not care for the plastic hush swivels, didn't want to take the chance of them breaking, just don't seem to strong? Replaced with metal swivels, so far no issues.
