In his first attempt at Nationals, Shane Simpson, Simpzenith, tied for 9th in the Owl Hooting at the NWTF Convention. Against that competition, awesome :icon_thumright:

Good Job Shane! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
Congratulations! That is playing in the Big Leagues right there! You've made us proud. :groupwave:

:icon_thumright:
Congrats!! :icon_thumright:
I heard and saw his video from the competition, and he sounded pretty dang good. He says he knows what he needs to work on to move up in the competition. I'm interested in hearing what that is.
congrats shane!!!!
Atta Boy! :happy0064:
Congrats Shane :happy0064:
Thanks everyone! We lost internet at the place we were staying earlier this week then we got a call about the pending snow storm and spent all day and a couple of different flights trying to get back to MN. Anyway, I'm really happy with my performance. For some reason, I have been more nervous at local events than what I was on the national stage. As soon as I receive the high quality video, I'll post a link. Thanks again everyone! I had a ton of fun in Nashville but it sure is good to be home!
Glad you made it home safe, Shane! Congrats again! :z-winnersmiley:
I've seen and heard Shane's video on his performance at Nationals, and maybe when he gets time he will post it :icon_thumright: for us to see and here. Takes a lot of guts to compete at this level, and my hat is off to his performance. Another, Well done.
Also congrats to a first year Raider, Dave Constantine, who won best of show again. The call in my avatar is the one he did for me to recoginize the team. ;D Not one of his carved ones that I couldn't afford, but still a great souvenior.
Just got the video a short time ago. It feels weird seeing myself on the national stage! Here's the video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=m7FL5EIk9Ao
Sweet. So, what is the difference between the guys that finished ahead of you? What do you need to do different?

The biggest difference is that they scored more points than me! :TooFunny:
Seriously, I need to add some additional vocalizations and work on a vocalization that I've used before (very difficult to do) and I think it helped me win at a local event. I just wasn't comfortable trying it on the national stage.
That was cool! Congrats and thanks for posting.
I haven't seen the owl calling contest in a while, does any one compete using their natural voice?

A few guys do. Not sure how they finish but they sound good.
Congratulations!! You sounded awesome!!! It does take some stone's to compete on that level. :z-paddy-smiley113:
Congradulations, that sounds awesome. :you_rock:
Man that was pretty dang awesome, good job and congrates.
I've been working on hooting myself, it ain't as easy as I thought it would be.
:you_rock: Good luck Shane on the Midwest Calling championship. Pretty neat prizes, and I think winning qualifies you for Nationals. Shane hasn't been on much due to practicing his butt off. I plan on getting up there if I can skip out of work early next Saturday.

Mid-Iowa Classic you mean? :) Thanks Jay. Practicing is using some of my time but my job is the real killer. 50 plus hours a week but I won't be complaining come payday. ;D Hope to see you there!

I've had good results the past two years in SD with crow and goose calls and I've got both of those! ;)
I wonder what the birds in MS though last season when you hit that goose call.... cause we only hear that during winter time down my way...
Good job at the show Shane, I'll see you on the 19th.

:you_rock: Shane took 1st in the Owl contest, but we won't talk about the Open contest ;D First contest I've ever been to, and enjoyed it a lot.
Thanks Jay for coming out! Very happy with my win but made too many mistakes in the Open due to a nervous, dry mouth! ;D Can I blame you Jay for being in the crowd as a reason for making me nervous? ::)
