This is my second and fourth wingbones I've made. Have to say, it's a lot fun. Especially over a long cold winter. The left one is a fall hen I killed this year and right one is a jake my wife killed last spring. They sound really nice. Can't wait to get more wings to play with different lengths.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230114/9d9256dd13c977d1b20daa82133a0417.jpg)

I think they look great.
they do look very nice!
Very cool, nice job!
Thanks guys! I used coffee to stain the ulna and humerus bones. I think turning the cork lip stops is toughest part. Still need work at that
They look awesome!

beautiful work
The hen bone is 8.25" inches and the jake bone is 8". They definately pull air differently. Can anyone expand on the effects of overall call length and tone and rollover?
Thanks again guys! I've got two sets of gobbler bones that I've got cleaned up. I may try to narrow the radius bone with epoxy on these bigger bones.
They look really nice.
They are absolutely gorgeous, but there's a lot more to the story than these being your "2nd and 4th" wingbones.
I didn't just roll off the wingbone turnip truck, lol. There's a WHOLE LOT of research, mentoring, question and answering, processes, materials etc. involved than you're letting on.
Just be up front about that.
Yes sir Tony, there is a lot of work that goes into make them. It's a long cold winter here, so I had time on my side, lol. Thanks for the compliments
Did you build fishing rods before? Your thread wrapping is as good as I've ever seen. What's the back story?
I haven't built rods, but I did research the techniques and applied that to the wing bones. I'd love to chat with ya Tony. Your beautiful calls are always topnotch and I've heard they sound even better!
Awesome looking work... very nice
I finished up a few more from gobbler bones. They are fun projects

Very sharp looking bones! Really like your wrapping. How do they sound?
They're gobbler bones and I do think they have a slightly lower tone than the hen and jake wings. I would hunt any of them though. I filled two of the gobbler radius bones with epoxy and drill them out with a 3/32" bit, but they don't sound any different to the others to my ear.
Thank you for your reply. Sound is probably older hen and/or gobbler?
To me they sound like an older hen
And I will admit, I do not know what I'm doing, lol. Just have fun in the off season
Real fine looking....

Well, you got the eye candy part down!
Those look real nice!
they look great and from the wrapping I would definitely think you have rod building experience.
Those look awesome.
Impressive, mine look like garbage compared to those, howeer they do kill turkeys!
I have only made them from Tom's as I do not fall hunt or shoot Jake's.
I was thinking of making some hybrid calls park wing bones and part cane or something? I also have some 30/06 brass I would like to use, came from a 21 gun solute at my Wife's uncles funeral.
I'm wanting to make a couple wing bones myself. What are you guys using to smooth out the joints? I've seen folks on YouTube use thread but this is so smooth it looks like clay. What's the secret? Also how are you getting them so shiny. These things look like stained and polished wood. That's amazing. Any websites or YouTube videos would be great for pointers

you can use jb weld on joints let dry then sand smooth to taper.
JB Weld water epoxy putty works really well and dries off white for those like me without the skills to do a decorative wrap.
