Which pot surface is your favorite? Which pot surface do you get the most response with?
I love glass/Crystal but a slate over slate has been the most productive for me
I like all of them depending on the needs.. but one of my favorite is ceramic ...
Slate. And more specifically a really good green slate.

Thus far, green slate.
But this will be my first season with a glass in my arsenal. It's striking to me how different the approach is—after being used to a slate, you just about feel you have to apply as little pressure as possible, but you still get big sound. With slate you at least get the feeling you can put into it what you want to get out, pressure/volume-wise. More intuitive control, in other words, which probably translates to more confidence.
To me, the "harder" surfaces like glass/aluminum generally have a much more "dramatic," punchy turnover in their sound. Stands out and reaches out, but that's not always what you want.

My favorite is Ceramic based on ease of play in fickle Wisconsin weather and Gobbler responses.
Grey or Black slate
I have had much success with Glass, specifically, Glass over Copper. Titanium over Slate would rank 2nd.
Starting to really fall in love with ceramic as an all around surface! I also like copper over acrylic with a cedar striker (for soft work) and glass on glass with a black locust striker.
I like a bunch of surfaces, but slates are my favorite.
Green and Black Slates for me.
Black Slate
Ceramic for me.
I believe slate is the most natural sounding surface, but the birds sure seem to like crystal also.
Titanium over slate
Glass over carbon fiber
Confidence wise is crystal but a very close 2nd is ceramic.
All around favorite for me now is green slate.
DD Adams crystal
Tuscarora Legend jake-taker slate
Glass or crystal. Slates sound great at home, but I feel like I'm always encountering high humidity and dew which steers me away from hunting them much.
Grey slate.
CODY World Class Slate or SPEC 1 Legend Slate are my killers!!
MK M GOBL
I'd have to say gray slate (most of my pot calls are gray slate) followed by the colored slates. Ceramic would be next followed by glass/crystal and lastly aluminum.

It shows, Mike! It shows! And we thank you for it.

Used to love glass/crystal but as of last year ceramic without a doubt

About 45% of my Toms took the initial bate to synthetic glass, another about 40% to slate over glass. The rest a combination of other calls.
Of 100% of all Toms I've killed I'd say at least 40% of them came in the last few yards to be in gun range from very soft mouth calling.

Same for me. With high humidity the sound from a slate just dies out.
I've tried slates so many times only to get no response. Whip out a
glass or a crystal and gooobbllleeeee. Crystal for me now.
Glass/crystal
Same...glass/crystal is my fav
Good old traditional grey slate for me.
Tried and true grey slate. Crystal is my second favorite.
Titanium over slate
Slate over slate is my go to with a glass over slate being a close second.
I have a couple of each slate and so far green is my favorite. After that I would have to say crystal.
Grey slate
Slate with copper a close second
Aluminum and green slate
Cody Fatwood woodsman Green slate. My Cody 11 Grey slate is even with it. I had Cody green monster from 1994 world class and spec 1 and the legend My cheaper Cody's are equal if not better then the most expensive ones.

Never thought I would say this, but an aluminum/aluminum pot I have sounds fantastic in the woods(full, rich, vibrant) It plays soft or loud and has great tone. Over the years I have had 3 pots that the birds loved....a gray slate, a glass, and now this aluminum.
Green slate, but I'm a bit biased. It's quarried less than an hour from my house and my first job out of college was for a company that quarried and manufactured slate products.

Agree about the harder surfaces, particularly aluminum. They seem sharper, "clearer " than slate, which to me is softer and more mellow. I carry both.
