It is airing on the outdoor channel today. Glad to see it hit a venue where it will reach a broader audience.

If its not just breasting out then what is it that you're, "not going to extreme measures to bring 2 pounds of meat home?" I mean I get that, "the meat is very low on your list of reasons," but what exactly are you taking off a turkey that you're only getting two pounds of meat? If what you said is true, there's a lot going wasted, but that aside the whole mentality reeks with, "Well, if I can find someone to do something with it I will, but I'm sure not letting it keep me from getting to my next state." It's a slob mentality.

So now your giving away turkeys lol.
You can't even keep your opinions straight let alone try to dictate them to someone else.

You and that other Yankee got twisted up with the numbers....again that's your problem.
The point I made was I'm not dragging Turkey meat around for weeks at a time when I'm hunting when I can give it to a local...period. Anything else you convey from that is your problem.

Lastly your gonna have to come to the realization that your jealousy of others and your higher than thou opinions don't mean squat to anyone, especially me.

For me, personally, this entire discussion comes down to a very basic rule I have for myself: I do not kill anything that I do not plan on eating myself, giving to someone else to eat, or in the case of what are considered to be "inedible" species, utilizing those animals in some constructive way such that I can justify me causing their deaths.

Example: Decades ago, I was a pretty avid coyote caller.  At that time, fur prices were high enough that I could justify killing them for their fur value.  When the fur prices dropped to a level where it was no longer worth the effort to skin them, I quit hunting them and haven't killed a coyote since. That is just "me".  Now, I have no issue with other folks hunting coyotes as a means of predator control, however.  Around here, they cause havoc with deer and pronghorn populations...especially fawns...and if others want to hunt them, in my mind, I can justify that. ...Just can't do it for myself.

Bottom line for me is that there is a line I will not cross.  If I kill a wild turkey, it is going to be processed such that either I, or someone I know, is going to fully utilize the meat of that bird.  Taking it a step further...which nobody else has mentioned here...I also cape every turkey and give the capes/feathers to one of the Native American Tribes here to be utilized in their traditions. In addition to that, I done full mounts on probably 50-75 gobblers, and "flat" mounts on at least that many more.

Point being, each of us can take the "utilization of the animal" theory to whatever level each of us wants.  That being said, I fully agree that the "baseline" for hunting turkeys is that the meat of the bird be fully processed and provided for SOMEONE to eat it.

Put in the crock pot, add 2 cups of water chicken broth or 2 cans of broth., 2 cans of cream of chicken soup, 1 can cream of celery soup, 1 medium white onion, and a teaspoon of garlic powder. Cook for 7-8 hours on low, separate meat from bones, place the meat back in crockpot, cook 1 more hour, and serve over rice, white or wild or egg noodles...
That's real close to my end game with the legs that I can with mushrooms and onions. Couple weeks ago I used the last quart I had. I sautéed a little bit of green pepper down and then added some leftover roasted broccoli we had and a jar of Alfredo sauce. Dumped in the quart of turkey legs, mushrooms, and onions. Made gnocchi for the pasta. Ate it with sliced parmesan. Was stupid good.

20 Gauge Turkey Guns / Mossberg 510 20 gauge?
Last post by Franklin7x57 - Today at 09:18:18 AM
looking at the mini with the 18" barrel, like the easy reach feature on the stock. But the stock is too short, the compact feels good but has a longer barrel. I can't find a 20 ga compact stock to replace the shorter stock. The kicklite stocks will work but not sure how the tang safety will.
My question is can you add more than one spacer to the mini stock?

A tough season for me as well. My preseason scouting looked pretty good and felt a good season to be on the way. The birds disappearing and lack of gobbling was a major disappointment. That's how it goes sometimes for us. HEY.... I could have missed one and it wouldda been a lot worse  :funnyturkey:
This week, I had one semi interested and tried everything to get him. He never committed and I can bet he's gobbling right now.
I'm hoping for a couple of days in next week. My home state birds did not cooperate at all and the season and is now closed.
More to follow.
